Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the performance, scalability, and resilience of H&M’s large-scale system landscape, from SAP platforms and web API backends to smaller in-house applications. You’ll design and execute load, stress, soak, and spike tests across modern microservice architecture using tools like k6 and LoadRunner (or similar).

Beyond testing, you’ll help shape how performance is approached across the organization by building standards, creating automated frameworks, and with that reducing cognitive load for developers. Your work will ensure our systems scale efficiently and degrade gracefully under pressure.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining scalable performance testing frameworks that empower developers and product teams to independently design, execute, and analyze tests
  • Building internal tools and AI-driven solutions to automate test orchestration, analysis, and reporting
  • Leading root cause analysis for performance incidents, identifying bottlenecks from the HTTP layer down to infrastructure and pod scheduling
  • Instrumenting and monitoring services using tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace, and creating insightful dashboards and alerts
  • Collaborating closely with platform teams to optimize AKS clusters and overall system performance
  • Defining performance standards and fostering a strong performance-focused culture across product teams

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join the Quality Engineering team, a group of experienced and trusted advisors driving performance testing strategies across H&M’s technology landscape.

We are a senior, knowledgeable, and forward-thinking team working with technologies such as k6, Kubernetes, Azure, GCP, SAP, Splunk, and other observability tools.

Just as importantly, we are a collaborative, curious, and enthusiastic team that enjoys working together, solving complex challenges, and continuously improving large-scale systems, while still having fun along the way.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for people with

  • 5+ years of experience in performance or reliability engineering within high-traffic distributed systems
  • deep technical expertise and a proactive, builder mindset
  • Hands-on expertise with performance test tools such as k6, LoadRunner, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes (AKS), KEDA, cloud-native infrastructure and observability tools
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex performance issues in production environments
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, or similar)

And people who are

  • Able to collaborate easily with others and can connect technical work to product and business goals while communicating clearly with different stakeholders.
  • Care about improving how things work, and focus on creating scalable, simple, and efficient solutions in an agile environment.
  • Have a strong ability to coach, mentor, and grow engineers
  • Are experienced in building high-performing, autonomous teams and skilled in fostering psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
