Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Smartsheet Solution Architect to lead the design, configuration, deployment, and optimization of enterprise-scale Smartsheet solutions, with a strong emphasis on Advanced Work Management (AWM) capabilities. This role will be responsible for translating business and operational requirements into scalable, secure Smartsheet-based solutions that improve delivery, governance, and reporting across portfolios and programs.
This is a consultative, problem-solving role. Requests often arrive loosely defined. The successful candidate will interpret ambiguity, probe for the real need, and shape solutions that solve the immediate problem while building in room to grow. Solutions should be designed to extend and adapt over time, not to be rebuilt with each new requirement.
The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in Smartsheet core platform capabilities and premium applications, along with proven experience delivering complex, multi-workspace, multi-team implementations in large organizational environments. This individual must be equally comfortable with solution architecture, detailed configuration, stakeholder engagement, governance, and user enablement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of enterprise Smartsheet solutions using Advanced Work Management capabilities.
- Architect scalable solutions using core Smartsheet functionality and premium applications such as Control Center, Dynamic View, Data Shuttle, DataMesh, Pivot, Calendar App, and Connectors.
- Design solution frameworks, data models, template sets, intake workflows, portfolio roll-ups, dashboards, and reporting structures that support enterprise governance and standardization.
- Partner with business leaders, project teams, PMOs, and operational stakeholders to gather requirements and convert them into practical and scalable solutions.
- Interpret ambiguous or loosely defined requests, clarify the underlying need, and shape them into clear, actionable solution designs.
- Design solutions with extensibility in mind so they accommodate future enhancement and refinement without rework.
- Establish and maintain solution design standards, development practices, naming conventions, security models, and governance controls.
- Configure and deploy automated workflows, approval processes, update requests, alerts, forms, and cross-sheet reporting solutions.
- Support enterprise portfolio and program management use cases including schedule management, RAID logs, financial tracking, resource planning, status reporting, and executive dashboards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes, improve data integrity, and increase visibility through automation and standardized architecture.
- Provide technical leadership for enhancements, environment optimization, and ongoing platform maturity.
- Support change management, training, documentation, and transition to business-as-usual support models.
- Collaborate with platform owners, IT, security, and data teams to align Smartsheet deployments with enterprise requirements for access, integration, and compliance.
- Troubleshoot complex solution issues and provide expert guidance on platform capabilities, design tradeoffs, and best practices.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business, engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying Smartsheet enterprise solutions in large, complex organizations.
- 3+ years of experience with Smartsheet Advanced Work Management and its associated premium applications.
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale deployments, including standardized template architectures, cross-functional workflows, portfolio reporting, and governance models.
- Strong experience with:
- Control Center
- Dynamic View
- Data Shuttle
- DataMesh
- Pivot
- Calendar App
- Connectors
- Core automation, forms, dashboards, and reporting
- Strong understanding of solution architecture, information structure, scalability, security, and platform governance.
- Experience facilitating workshops, defining business requirements, and translating needs into technical designs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both executive stakeholders and hands-on delivery teams.
- Proven ability to balance strategic design with detailed solution build and deployment.
- Experience developing user guides, standards, training materials, and support documentation.
- Must be willing to work on fixed night shifts and 3 days onsite per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Smartsheet certification is strongly preferred. This includes the current Smartsheet Architect Certification or Smartsheet Professional Certification, as well as the legacy Smartsheet Solution Certification or Product Certification.
- Experience supporting PMO, portfolio management, capital delivery, operations, or enterprise transformation environments.
- Experience integrating Smartsheet with adjacent enterprise systems or reporting environments.
- Familiarity with structured delivery methodologies, solution governance, and phased rollout approaches.
- Experience in regulated, highly matrixed, or geographically distributed organizations.
- Experience building Power Automate workflows.
- Experience developing API workflows.
