We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Inside Sales Engineer to join our dynamic sales team in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this pivotal role, you will be the technical bridge between our customers and our organisation, combining your engineering knowledge with consultative sales expertise to drive revenue growth and build lasting client relationships. You will work independently and collaboratively to deliver exceptional technical support, develop accurate quotations, and guide customers through their purchasing decisions with transparency and professionalism. • Manage inbound and outbound customer enquiries, providing technical expertise and product recommendations tailored to client requirements • Develop detailed quotations and specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer specifications and industry standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle • Analyse customer requirements and translate them into viable technical solutions, demonstrating problem-solving capabilities and innovative thinking
- Collaborate with the engineering, operations, and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment and customer satisfaction • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations to prospective clients, articulating complex technical information in an accessible manner • Track sales opportunities and maintain organised records within our CRM system, ensuring efficient pipeline management and accurate forecasting
- Achieve and exceed individual sales targets whilst maintaining high standards of customer service and technical accuracy • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the continuous development of our sales and technical support functions • Provide timely follow-up and support to customers post-sale, fostering long-term partnerships and identifying upsell opportunities
Qualifications
**Required:** • Proven experience in customer service or technical sales environments • Strong technical knowledge and ability to quickly master product specifications and technical details
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office applications • Demonstrated ability to develop accurate quotations and technical specifications
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment **Desirable:**
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial sales sectors • Knowledge of valves, actuators, or similar technical products • Certification or formal training in sales, engineering, or a related technical discipline • Experience with advanced CRM systems and sales forecasting tools • Multilingual capabilities, particularly with local South African languages • Background in technical support or customer success roles
