We would love you to join our Supported Living Services team! As a Sr. Community Support Companion, you will have more than just a job - you will have the opportunity to directly impact someone’s life for the better! You will work with individuals in their own homes and surrounding communities. As a Sr. Community Support Companion, you will hire, train and supervise employees who teach and assist clients in building skills necessary to live independently in their own homes. You will oversee Supported Living Services that are provided in the individual's home and in varied community settings in San Fernando Valley.

What is Supported Living?

  • Supported Living Services allow individuals with developmental disabilities to live in their own homes in the community, while developing independent living skills, creating meaningful relationships, and participating as active members in their families and community

Responsibilities

  • Your daily routine can include:
    • Facilitating meaningful community connections
    • Establishing friendships
    • Exploring and participating in a variety of recreational and educational activities
    • Teaching independent life skills
    • Increasing helpful, adaptive behaviors
    • Participate in client team meetings as requested by Management
    • Facilitate and/or carry out quality reviews to ensure the individual is receiving the support he/she requires
    • Assist in coordination and arrangement of client support schedules
    • Scheduled to be on-call for after hour emergencies
    • Spend no more than 20% of their working time in carrying out the following duties:
      • Assist management in the development of the individual's Individual Support Plan, and may attend meetings related to the plan.
      • Participate in assisting the new individual set-up his or her apartment and the services to be provided
      • Provide substitute coverage when a Companion is absent as directed by Management
      • Provide hands-on training to Companions working with new individuals
      • Participate in compiling client data and writing reports as directed by Management

Requirements

Qualifications for the Sr. Support Companion

  • This entry-level position requires at least a High School Diploma and one year of training and experience in providing support services for individuals who are challenged with physical or developmental disabilities, or an A.A. degree in psychology or a related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate honesty and respect while maintaining a positive, professional work ethic. Must have a prominent level of accountability and dependability. Knowledge of positive behavior supports a plus!

    • Able to support clients in their daily routines; including, but not limited to, nutrition, self-care, social, recreational, personal relationships, money management, etc.
    • Be certified in CPR/First Aid, and ProAct within the first two weeks of employment.
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, and lift 25 lbs.
    • Successfully pass a Live Scan DOJ/FBI background check
    • Possess a valid California Driver's license and provide a current driving record issued by the DMV
    • Provide proof of current car insurance
    • Provide High School Diploma and/or other qualifying certificates
