ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Warehouse Specialist / ETL Developer to design, build, and maintain complex data pipelines that power enterprise analytics and reporting at Sterling, Virginia (Hybrid Role).

This role requires expertise in developing scalable ETL/ELT workflows, optimizing SQL performance, and ensuring data accuracy across diverse systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT workflows to migrate and integrate data from multiple sources into target systems (e.g., MRT data warehouses).
  • Extract, transform, and load data using advanced business rules to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Optimize SQL queries, ETL package execution, and overall pipeline performance for efficiency and scalability.
  • Implement data quality checks, validation frameworks, and monitoring solutions to maintain high standards of data integrity.
  • Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, enforcing best practices in ETL design, coding standards, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data integration issues, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in ETL/ELT development, data warehousing, and SQL optimization.
  • Strong proficiency with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, SSIS, Talend, or similar).
  • Advanced SQL skills with proven ability to optimize queries and manage large datasets.
  • Experience working with enterprise data warehouse platforms and cloud-based environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a track record of mentoring junior team members.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Snowflake).
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
