About the Role:

Hyper-Reach is an emergency notification and mass communication platform serving public safety agencies across North America. We’re looking for a AI-curiousSoftware Engineer to join our R&D team at Hyper-Reach. This role is ideal for a recent or soon-to-be computer science graduate who has completed AI-related coursework and personal or academic projects involving AI tools or techniques.

You’ll work closely with our CEO, Product Manager, and Sales/Marketing Manager to take early-stage product ideas and turn them into working prototypes using AI tools, automation platforms, and rapid development techniques. Once a prototype is validated and shows market potential, it will be transitioned to our core engineering team and you’ll move on to the next idea.

This role is highly entrepreneurial and fast-paced,  think of it as being a tech prototyper with AI.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

• Rapidly prototype product ideas using tools like Cursor AI, Windsurf, Bolt, or similar AI-enhanced development platforms
• Leverage AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, HuggingFace, etc.) and automation tools (e.g., n8n, LangChain) to deliver working MVPs
• Build functional, demo-ready applications with the goal of working toward shipping and iteration
• Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders (sales, product, executive team) to refine ideas and adjust direction
• Document technical decisions and hand off successful prototypes to the core engineering team for further development

What We’re Looking For

    Must-Haves:

• Recent or upcoming graduate in Computer Science or related field
• Exposure to AI-related coursework or personal projects (e.g., NLP, LLMs, machine learning or AI APIs)
• Java and React skills
• Ability to move quickly, experiment, and learn on the fly
• Comfort working across different ideas and problem domains

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience using low-code/no-code automation platforms (like n8n, Zapier, etc.)
• Familiarity with AI agents
• Prior internship or freelance experience building working software prototypes
• Interest in public safety or emergency communications
