As a Senior Engineering Manager (M7), you will lead one or more teams of engineers, providing both technical leadership and people management. You are responsible for delivering complex projects, developing talent, and ensuring alignment with departmental and business objectives. This role requires balancing execution with strategic contribution, while driving team performance and continuous improvement across a broader scope than first-line management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight to a team of experienced engineers, potentially including managers
  • Oversee delivery of larger projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Set priorities and guide team activities in coordination with adjacent teams and stakeholders
  • Adapt departmental plans to align with broader business objectives
  • Own team performance, delivery outcomes, and capability development
  • Contribute to departmental planning, including priorities, resource needs, and process improvements
  • Ensure strong technical and engineering standards across the team
  • Drive execution of technical and business initiatives within the team’s area

 

Qualifications

Professional should have 10+ years of experience in below areas:

Business Expertise & Financial Acumen

  • Apply advanced engineering and business practices to deliver complex programs and services
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the business model and engineering’s role in achieving business outcomes
  • Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to align engineering work with business goals
  • Maintain strong customer focus, ensuring delivery meets customer needs
  • Manage budgets for projects or teams and optimize resource allocation
  • Use financial and performance data to make informed decisions and improve outcomes

Technical Expertise & Innovation

  • Demonstrate expertise in system design and guide teams in architecting scalable solutions
  • Lead technical discussions and decision-making processes
  • Ensure high standards of code quality and engineering practices
  • Manage technical planning, timelines, and risk mitigation for complex projects
  • Drive adoption of Agile, DevSecOps, and modern engineering practices
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement across teams
  • Our technology stack is broad – built on a backend of IBMi, Oracle, Exasol in-memory database technologies with MySQL and Mongo thrown in for good measure. We have a variety of front-end services, built with SAP Business Objects and BI tools such as QlikSense, as well as a variety of online/web-based digital services and APIs

  • Own delivery of larger-scale projects and initiatives from planning through execution
  • Ensure teams consistently meet objectives and deadlines
  • Allocate resources effectively and optimize workflows
  • Solve complex organizational and technical problems through structured analysis

  • Ensure transparency and alignment with stakeholders

Leadership, People & Organization Development

  • Lead and develop engineers and emerging leaders through coaching and mentoring
  • Build high-performing teams with strong collaboration and accountability
  • Contribute to hiring decisions and workforce planning
  • Drive engagement, retention, and continuous development initiatives
  • Align team structures and capabilities with business and delivery needs
  • Support organizational development and contribute to leadership pipeline growth

Interpersonal Skills & Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and align teams on shared goals
  • Influence stakeholders and guide decision-making
  • Resolve conflicts constructively and promote collaboration
