Job Description

Seeking a Project Controls Specialist to be a part of the project controls team who has a comprehensive understanding of Project Controls principles, theories, concepts, current industry practices and standards. You can live anywhere within the U.S. to support our team successfully, ideally in the Central or Eastern Region of the U.S. 

You may be responsible for all cost elements of the project, including scope changes, inputting or updating budget information, expenditure information, and forecasts into the cost reporting system(s). We will lean on you to prepare and analyze revenue and cost, this would also include recommending corrective actions to the project manager.  

You will be key in setting up, monitoring, and forecasting all elements on the project for both cost and schedule. You will be responsible for collaborating within the team to develop and build project schedules using Interactive Planning sessions. You will status the schedule activities, perform critical path analysis, integrate change notices with known impacts and provide recommendations to the project team, which will help drive us to a successful project delivery. You will also be responsible to resource load the schedule to determine peak staffing needs within Engineering and Construction. 

This position reports administratively to the Project Controls Manager and functionally to the assigned Project Manager. A working relationship will exist with clients, vendors, members of the project team and other AFRY business units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical years of experience 

  • At least 5 years of Project Controls demonstrated experience in the following markets: Consumer Products, Pulp & Paper, Foundry, Chemical Processing, Electric Vehicles, and/or Data Centers 

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project 

  • Proven experience with Project Controls principles and methods including, but not limited to: Budgeting, Forecasting, Change Management, Work Breakdown Structures, Earned Value, Contingency, Schedule Planning, development, updating, and resource loading 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with project management, other project leads, the client, vendors, and construction management 

  • Ability to proactively identify potential problems and elevate these to the appropriate level(s) of management 

  • Thorough planning and organizational skills 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment 

  • Ability to perform presentations to AFRY management team 

  • Experience in Deltek Maconomy 

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, especially MS Excel 

  • Knowledge of Power BI
