Metal Fabrication Technician (Welding & Finishing)

Pay Rate: Starting at $22.00 per hour, with higher compensation available based on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabrication Technician to join a growing manufacturing team. This position combines MIG welding, grinding, finishing, and assembly work to produce custom metal products used in commercial and industrial applications.
The ideal candidate has welding experience, can read fabrication drawings, and takes pride in producing high-quality work in a fast-paced shop environment.
### Essential Duties
Perform MIG welding on fabricated steel and metal assemblies.
Grind, smooth, and finish welded components to meet production and quality requirements.
Assemble and fabricate custom metal products including rail systems, stair components, and structural assemblies.
Safely operate overhead cranes and other fabrication equipment.
Inspect completed welds and finished products to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
Interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and production instructions.
Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
Follow all company safety guidelines and established shop procedures.
### Required Skills & Experience
Prior experience with MIG welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Working knowledge of welding equipment, fabrication methods, and metalworking practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
Basic math and geometry skills for measuring and layout work.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality.
Ability to meet production expectations in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
Self-starter who can learn new processes and contribute as part of a team.
### Preferred Qualifications
Welding certification, vocational training, or related technical education.
Experience fabricating stair stringers, handrails, porches, guardrails, or similar structural metal products.
Background in custom metal fabrication or miscellaneous metals manufacturing.
### Additional Details
Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Applicants with limited welding experience may still be considered if they demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, dependability, and a willingness to learn.
