About the Role

We are seeking a Sotfware Engineer to join our Data team focussing on hosted and 3rd party/ API data sources. This team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines and services that power Data Zoo’s core identity verification platform.

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work hands-on across the full software development lifecycle, with a strong focus on data engineering, pipeline development, and integration of global data sources. You will play a key role in ensuring data is processed, delivered, and maintained with accuracy, scalability, and reliability in mind.

 

You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality data solutions that directly impact customer outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Platform Development

·        Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations

·        Work with structured and unstructured data sources to process and transform data efficiently

·        Support the integration of new global data sources into the platform

·        Contribute to the design of data models, storage solutions, and processing workflows

·        Apply data quality, validation, and monitoring practices to ensure data integrity

 

Software Engineering

·        Develop, test, and maintain backend services using Go (GoLang)

·        Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with engineering best practices

·        Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of the codebase

·        Contribute to architectural design discussions and scalable system solutions

·        Build and maintain automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end)

 

Production & Operations

·        Support production systems including monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting

·        Investigate and resolve defects and production issues

·        Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews

·        Contribute to improving CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling

 

Collaboration & Delivery

·        Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)

·        Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to deliver against the roadmap

·        Communicate progress, risks, and blockers proactively

 

Continuous Improvement

·        Identify and drive improvements across code, processes, and tooling

·        Stay up to date with developments in Go and data engineering practices

·        Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across the team

 

Qualifications, skills and experience required

·        Proven experience as a Software or Data Engineer with strong Go (GoLang) experience

·        Experience building and operating backend services or APIs in production environments

·        Hands-on experience with data engineering (data pipelines, ETL/ELT, integrations)

·        Strong understanding of data structures, API design, and distributed systems

·        Experience working with relational and/or SQL databases and data technologies

·        Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerisation, and CI/CD pipelines (preferred)

·        Experience in Agile environments within collaborative engineering teams

·        Exposure to SaaS, data-focused, or technology-driven organisations is advantageous

·        Relevant tertiary qualification (Computer Science, Engineering, IT or similar) preferred
