Job Description

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

This role will be based in San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.

At LinkedIn, our Social, Creator & Partnerships team is responsible for driving measurable impact across marketing through strategic partnerships, creator collaboration, and our owned social presence. We operate at the intersection of brand, content, and distribution — building a social engine that drives relevance, reach, and results.

As audience behavior continues to shift across social platforms, creator ecosystems, communities, and AI-mediated discovery environments, we are evolving how LinkedIn earns attention, builds authority, and drives measurable impact. This role will help shape that evolution.

We are seeking a Senior Social Strategist, Discovery & Culture to join our core strategy team. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for a modern social strategist who combines deep platform instinct, strong cultural judgment, and discovery fluency across surfaces like YouTube, Reddit, AI/LLM search environments, and in-platform social search.

The right candidate will be able to turn research, social listening, performance data, audience behavior, and platform signals into clear recommendations, tightly constructed briefs, and social programs that drive greater relevance, discovery, and business impact. This role is designed for someone who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution — translating insights into action, owning work end to end, and helping the team operate with more rigor, more leverage, and a clearer connection to business impact.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

  • Translate audience and business priorities into differentiated social-first strategies, briefs, and programs.
  • Turn signals from research, social listening, performance data, platform behavior, and internal business context into actionable recommendations and creative direction.
  • Help define what modern, high-impact social strategy looks like across LinkedIn’s flagship surfaces and discovery ecosystems.

Platform & Content Leadership

  • Bring strong platform fluency and social-first judgment across LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging discovery environments.
  • Identify where LinkedIn can show up with relevance and distinctiveness across cultural moments, creator ecosystems, communities, and search/discovery surfaces.
  • Review and improve creative concepts from internal and external partners to ensure the work is strategically sound, platform-native, and built to break through.

Execution & Ownership

  • Own initiatives end to end: from strategic framing and briefing through execution guidance, optimization, and synthesis of results.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously, solve unstructured problems with strong judgment, and move work forward with minimal dependencies.
  • Spot gaps, opportunities, and improvements across the team’s work and proactively drive solutions that improve outcomes.

Measurement & Performance

  • Use data, insights, and social intelligence to refine strategy, optimize content, and identify what should be scaled, adjusted, or stopped.
  • Establish clear success metrics that go beyond engagement to reflect impact.
  • Translate learnings into clear internal recommendations and updates that help leadership and partners understand where social is driving value.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Production, Creator, Partnerships, Comms, Editorial, PMM, Paid Media, Measurement, and other teams to ensure integrated planning and execution.
  • Influence stakeholders across functions through clear, persuasive, and purposeful communication.
  • Navigate ambiguity and complexity effectively, finding the right people and information needed to strengthen the work and accelerate progress.

Builder Mindset

  • Build repeatable playbooks, templates, and frameworks that improve the consistency, quality, and scalability of the team’s work over time.
  • Share what’s working across platforms, bring fresh insights to the table, and collaborate to keep our social content ahead of the curve.
  • Contribute to scalable systems and operating improvements that allow the team to focus more energy on higher-impact work.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in social media strategy, digital content strategy, audience development, or a closely related marketing discipline.
  • Experience leading multi-platform social initiatives end to end, from insight and briefing through execution, optimization, and reporting.
  • Experience using social listening, audience, performance, or platform data to inform strategy and improve content effectiveness.
  • Experience developing strategic briefs, content frameworks, or content direction informed by research, audience insight, or performance data.
  • Experience developing social or content strategies across multi-audience environments, including consumer and/or B2B contexts.
  • BA/ BS Degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep platform fluency across LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging networks, with a sophisticated understanding of how content travels organically across feeds, communities, and discovery surfaces.
  • Strong writing and briefing skills, with the ability to turn complex inputs into clear strategic direction.
  • Familiarity with social search, AI/LLM discovery dynamics, and other emerging behaviors shaping how audiences find and engage with content.
  • Fluency with AI tools and workflows that improve strategy, research, ideation, content development, and team productivity.
  • Experience in high-growth tech, digital media, streaming, or other content-led brands where social strategy is closely connected to audience behavior and business outcomes.
  • Experience developing social strategy across both consumer and enterprise/B2B audiences, ideally in a global or multi-audience environment.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect social work to broader company priorities and brand goals.
  • Comfort operating in complex, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and ambiguity.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strategic judgment paired with operational follow-through, including the ability to move seamlessly between strategy and execution.
  • Experience building frameworks, playbooks, or systems that improve quality, consistency, and scalability.

Suggested Skills

  • Social-First Strategy & Platform Fluency
  • Strategic Brief Writing
  • Discovery & Search Fluency
  • Stakeholder Management & Influence
  • Business Impact Storytelling
