Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Casework Support Officer to join our fantastic Marks and Traces (M&T) team at our Midlands site based in Tamworth, Staffordshire. The M&T team are responsible for the delivery of a broad portfolio of forensic disciplines including the examination, analysis and interpretation of physical and chemical trace evidence, such as Glass, Paint, Gunshot Residue (GSR), Ignitable Liquids and Fire Investigation, Fibres and Noxious Substances; combined with the delivery of our Footwear & Marks comparison services. As a Casework Support Officer, you will be responsible for providing essential administrative and organisational support to the Marks and Traces team, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily operations.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The successful candidate will also be expected to:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Marks and Traces (M&T) team, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry across case management systems, spreadsheets and internal databases.
- Coordinate the movement, booking, storage, return and destruction of forensic exhibits while maintaining full continuity and chain of custody.
- Support casefile preparation including invoicing, pagination and responding to customer or defence queries.
- Arrange travel, meetings and visitor access, acting as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee stock control by ordering, replenishing and monitoring consumables.
- Assist with scheduling preventative maintenance for laboratory instruments and liaising with contractors.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and compliant working environment by supporting daily cleaning checks and environmental monitoring when required.
- Carry out general office duties including filing, post handling and greeting visitors.
You will also be accountable for:
- Ensuring all administrative processes are completed accurately, efficiently and in line with documented procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of data integrity, confidentiality and compliance.
- Supporting the team in meeting operational deadlines and customer expectations.
- Upholding Eurofins Forensic Services’ values, particularly around integrity, quality and customer focus.
- Contributing to a well‑organised, safe and professional working environment.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence working with data and documentation. A good standard of general education and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. Previous experience in a fast‑paced administrative, logistics or evidence‑handling environment is preferable but not essential.
You should be highly motivated, enthusiastic and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational skills, a proactive approach and the ability to prioritise competing tasks will help you thrive in this role.

Additional Information
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, this role will require the successful candidate to achieve NPPV3 + Security Clearance (SC). To be eligible, you must have 5 years’ continuous UK residency.
As part of the vetting process, you’ll be asked to provide information about your background, including your employment and address history, financial circumstances and details of close family or partners. These checks are carried out to ensure individuals accessing police data, systems and sites are trustworthy and suitable for the role.
Factors such as criminal convictions, financial difficulties or associations that may pose a risk could affect your ability to gain clearance. However, each application is assessed on an individual basis, and honesty throughout the process is essential.

- Vetting is carried out by an external police vetting service
- Drug and alcohol testing may be required before you start and during your employment
- Ongoing employment is subject to maintaining the required level of clearance
