Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Traffic Monitoring Technician II for immediate employment in Mount Clemens, MI. This position will be based in the southeast Michigan area and will work out of client traffic operations center facilities. Traffic operations centers provide a centralized location for stakeholder communications, information dissemination, asset management, and traffic monitoring. The applicant will need to be professional, self-motivated, resourceful, and able to successfully execute various tasks in a fast-based environment with ever changing priorities.
Job Description
Assess large volumes of data, both static and real-time, from a wide variety of sources, looking to detect roadway incidents, congestion, or evaluate equipment configuration. CRTs monitor road sensor data and confirm the data using closed-circuit television (CCTV) video. Effective communication is an important part of this process, as CRTs maintain written and verbal communications with field technicians, engineers, first responders, public service agencies, and the motoring public. Once assessment is complete, CRTs determine the facts and severity of traffic incidents and prepare the information for dissemination to the motoring public. In addition, CRTs are responsible for the maintenance, quality, accuracy and timeliness of all information disseminated, including social media and text messages.
In this position, the successful candidate provides hands-on technical services and support for traffic operations and intelligent transportation systems. The CRT also evaluates and analyzes extensive data from multiple sources to detect roadway incidents, assess equipment setup, and monitor road sensor data. Additionally, the technician collaborates closely with the engineering team to address mobility impact and safety implications, deploying operational changes to alleviate congestion and enhance safety and mobility. Maintaining the quality and timeliness of all disseminated information, including social media and text messages, is a key responsibility. These systems play a vital role in managing safety and mobility on roadways overseen by the Macomb County Traffic Operations Center (TOC) project team.
The candidate may be required to work weekends, major holidays, and overnight shifts, as typically assigned. A typical daily office schedule will be set; however, the applicant will be expected to work additional hours either before or after the typical shift, as needed.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate for the Control Room Technician role will receive specific training tailored to the systems, services, and procedures used by the Macomb TOC project team. The general responsibilities of this position, but are not limited to:

- Create, maintain, and troubleshoot work orders for ITS equipment and troubleshoot service requests related to traffic operations.

- Verify and compare deployed traffic signal timing plans for accuracy.
- Deploy pre-designed traffic signal timing plans to address mobility concerns.
- Utilize central traffic signal systems for device integration, historical data access, and troubleshooting.
