Job Description

The Opportunity

As Head of Specification, you will be responsible for developing and executing Kronospan's specification strategy across the UK. You will lead, inspire and develop a team of Regional Specification Managers while building strong relationships with key decision-makers across the architecture, design, fit-out and construction sectors.

Working closely with customers, distributors and internal stakeholders, you will ensure that Kronospan products are specified early in project lifecycles and successfully delivered through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and Develop the Specification Team

  • Provide leadership, direction and support to Regional Specification Managers across the UK.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members to maximise performance and professional growth.
  • Monitor activity, pipeline development and project conversion to achieve business objectives.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on customer engagement and specification success.

Drive Specification Growth

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase specification activity and market share.
  • Build relationships with architects, interior designers, project managers, contractors, fabricators and shopfitters.
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities while strengthening existing customer partnerships.
  • Create demand that generates pull-through sales via Kronospan's distribution network.

Promote the Kronospan Portfolio

  • Champion the full Kronospan product range, including KronoDesign®, Kronobuild® and KronoOriginal®.
  • Deliver engaging product presentations, CPDs and technical demonstrations tailored to customer requirements.
  • Position Kronospan as a preferred specification partner across multiple sectors.

Project and Customer Management

  • Oversee projects from initial specification through to completion.
  • Support customers throughout the design and procurement process, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Provide technical guidance and product expertise to architects, designers and contractors.
  • Coordinate samples, documentation and follow-up activities to maintain project momentum.

CRM, Reporting and Market Intelligence

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and project activity within the CRM system.
  • Produce detailed reports on customer opportunities, competitor activity and market trends.
  • Use data and insights to identify growth opportunities and support strategic decision-making.

Business Development and Market Presence

  • Develop and maintain a structured customer engagement plan.
  • Attend industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities to promote the Kronospan brand.
  • Stay informed on market developments, emerging design trends and customer requirements.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Proven success in specification sales, business development or a related commercial role within the construction, interiors, fit-out or architectural sectors.
  • Experience managing or leading a sales or specification team.
  • Strong understanding of the specification process and project lifecycle.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercially focused with strong negotiation and influencing abilities.
  • Self-motivated, organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of decorative surfaces, wood-based panels, furniture manufacturing, fit-out or interior design products.
  • Experience working with architects, designers, contractors and distribution partners.
  • Technical understanding of construction, joinery or interior specification.
