Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Test and Evaluation (T&E) Safety and Standards team supporting Anduril's maritime portfolio. This role will based out of Quincy, Massachusetts, but will support maritime test operations at all sites. In this role, you will collaborate closely with T&E leadership and various business lines to establish and oversee team training, safety, and standard practices both on-site and across multiple test venues — waterfront facilities, in-water test ranges, and at-sea operations supporting unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), and the high-energy battery systems that power them in the ocean. A key responsibility will be ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. Navy, NAVSEA, U.S. Coast Guard, and DCMA contract requirements. Additionally, you will manage safety trends and conduct predictive analysis to enhance operational safety.
Join our dynamic team and contribute to building a robust Maritime T&E program that positions us as the industry leader in unmanned surface and subsurface vehicle products and operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the contract and operational safety regimes governing maritime test, including applicable U.S. Navy/NAVSEA technical authority instructions, OPNAVINST 5100-series, USCG navigation and operational rules, and DCMA contract safety requirements.
- Monitor, interpret, and implement changes to Surface, Subsurface, Waterfront, and Battery Handling Operations Procedures.
- Ensure timely communications to all stakeholders, internal and external.
- Lead internal readiness reviews and Navy, NAVSEA, and DCMA audits and inspections.
- Develop, implement, and manage a Safety Management System (SMS) and operational standards program tailored to maritime unmanned systems and energetic battery operations.
- Maintain safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and checklists to ensure compliance with federal, DoD, U.S. Navy, USCG, and company requirements.
- Establish and maintain a standardized approach to creating, updating, and publishing written procedures, checklists, manuals, and other documents required for the execution of test-related and at-sea activities — including dockside, underway, and submerged operations.
- Serve as liaison to the U.S. Coast Guard, harbormasters, port authorities, and local maritime test ranges as needed.
- Serve as the senior Maritime Safety Officer for Anduril's Maritime waterfront and at-sea test operations.
- Lead or assist with Safety Councils to proliferate updated requirements, review lessons learned, and share ideas for the continuous improvement of test operations.
- Be prepared to conduct safety investigations into waterfront, surface, subsurface, and battery-related test incidents and report findings to Anduril leadership as required.
- Review all incidents, track derivative issues, and ensure closure of all issues with subsequent out briefings that connect root cause analysis to root cause corrective actions.
- Maintain the Mishap Response Plan (MRP) for waterfront, surface, subsurface, battery, and test-related activities.
- Track statistical data relating to maritime test-related incidents for trend analysis and potential corrective recommendations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. Navy and/or NAVSEA safety, technical authority, offshore industry expertise and operational standards.
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and maritime quality programs.

- Operational maritime experience — U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, or commercial maritime — with hands-on time on or around surface and/or subsurface platforms.
- Experience in safety standardization, qualification, and currency programs in a maritime or operational context.
- Experience in developmental testing.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory and government agencies.
- Knowledge of maritime safety policy creation / writing.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy, USCG, and/or NTSB marine casualty and safety investigation processes.
- Knowledge of operator training requirements, currency, and proficiency for maritime systems.
- Experience with incident response / pre-accident planning.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Ability to travel on an as needed basis, including travel to coastal test sites and time on the water.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior U.S. Navy operational background — surface warfare, submarine, EOD, diving, or special warfare community.
- School-trained Navy Safety Officer (e.g., Naval Postgraduate School Aviation/Surface Safety Officer Course) or equivalent.
- Experience supporting NAVSEA technical authority, SUBSAFE, Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification (SOC), or analogous material certification and safety review programs.
- Unmanned Maritime Systems (USV/UUV) experience as an operator, technician, or program lead.
- Familiarity with Notice to Mariners, USCG relationships, maritime range coordination, port operations, and waterway deconfliction for at-sea test.
- Experience with high-energy lithium battery safety in marine environments, including familiarity with NAVSEA S9310-series technical manuals and Navy battery safety review processes.
