You'll work where Causa Prima meets the SAP systems our customers run their finance on. Most of the data we care about lives inside S/4HANA and ECC, and your job is to make those systems work cleanly and reliably with what we build. You'll bring real ABAP skill and a working understanding of finance in SAP, and you'll grow into a role that sits right at the intersection of enterprise software and AI.
What you'll do
ABAP development: Write clean, reviewable ABAP inside our reserved namespace. Function modules, CDS views, and extensions that respect the customer's release strategy and stay upgrade-safe.
SAP data and APIs: Work with SAP's standard APIs and data model (OData, BAPIs, RFCs, IDocs) to read and write the financial data our product depends on.
FI/CO domain work: Translate accounting reality into code. Document types, posting logic, payment terms and Skonto, open item management, account determination, master data, tax codes. You understand what a transaction actually does to the ledger before you automate anything.
Data structuring: Make sense of heterogeneous customer SAP setups (different charts of accounts, company codes, country versions) and shape that data into something consistent and usable downstream.
Reliability and auditability: Build with idempotency, error handling, and reconciliation in mind. Every action against a customer system should be traceable.
Customer-facing problem solving: Sit with finance teams and SAP admins during onboarding, understand their configuration, and turn "it's complicated in our system" into something that works.
What we're looking for
2 to 4 years of hands-on SAP experience, with real ABAP development behind you (not just configuration).
Working knowledge of SAP FI/CO: you can explain a three-way match, a Skonto posting, and open item clearing without reaching for a manual.
ABAP fundamentals done well: function modules, BAPIs, CDS views, and an instinct for what makes code upgrade-safe and namespace-clean.
Familiarity with how third-party systems talk to S/4HANA and ECC (OData, RFC, IDoc), and an understanding of how the data model differs between the two.
A curiosity that reaches beyond the SAP world. You're energized by where AI is heading and by the chance to build where enterprise systems and intelligent software meet.
You communicate clearly with both engineers and finance people, in English; Spanish or German is a strong plus given our Madrid and Munich teams.
EU Work Permit necessary, we unfortunately cannot offer visa sponsorship for this role
Nice to have
You've played with SAP Joule, or at least followed it closely enough to have an opinion on where it helps and where it doesn't.
SAP BTP exposure (extensions, the API layer, or GCP-hosted environments).
Experience with AP automation, e-invoicing, or procure-to-pay workflows.
Exposure to SEPA payment flows (Lastschrift, credit transfer) and European tax requirements (§14 UStG and similar).
Experience working against customer SAP systems as a vendor or consultant, not just internal IT.
Background in fintech, accounting tech, or a regulated environment.
Why Causa Prima
We're building an AI-powered AP/AR network and recovery audit platform, founded by the team behind Taulia. SAP is where the money actually moves, so this role sits close to the core of what we do. You'll have direct ownership, a short path from idea to production, and a front-row seat as enterprise finance and AI come together.
