We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Occupational Therapist to work part time at our school partner in Odessa, DE. In this role, you will support students’ development by assessing their functional abilities and creating tailored intervention plans to enhance their participation in school activities.
Your expertise will help students overcome challenges related to disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, fostering independence and improving their overall quality of life within the school environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while collaborating with educators and families.
- Location: Odessa, DE
- Duration: August 17, 2026 - June 15, 2027
- Grade Level: 9th-12th and supporting 18-22 year olds
- Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 (based on experience)
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students’ motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities to identify needs and strengths.
- Develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving activities of daily living (ADLs), fine motor skills, sensory integration, and other functional areas relevant to school performance.
- Assist students with activities such as handwriting, self-care routines, classroom mobility, and social participation.
- Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, and families to integrate therapy goals into the school setting effectively.
- Provide direct therapy sessions for students with diverse needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder, disabilities, or developmental delays.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, treatment progress, care plans, and case management records in compliance with school policies and healthcare standards.
Caseload Details
- Treating students in 9-12th grade and supporting 18-22 year olds in the transition program
- Primarily working with children with Autism, but will also cover a few gen-ed students
- Approximately 15 students
- Access to shared office space
Experience
- Proven experience working as an occupational therapist in a school setting or pediatric environment.
- Familiarity with early intervention programs and pediatric developmental milestones.
- Experience assisting children with autism spectrum disorder and implementing sensory integration strategies.
- Strong understanding of care planning processes and case management for children with disabilities or special needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
