About the Position:
The Employment Services Representative assists unemployed participants in the areas of employment preparation, resume writing, interviewing skills, job search and placement.  They will provide a variety of resources to support student (participant) transition into long-term sustainable work.

### What You Will Do:
  • Maintain an updated roster of student (participant) placements. 
  • Actively collaborate with area employers to create job opportunities for participants. 
  • Notify prospective employers of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, the fidelity bonding incentive, and any other benefit for hiring students (participants). 
  • Prepare and update a monthly roster of those employers willing to hire students (participants) and provide the roster to CDCR (California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation) upon request. 
  • Correspond with the AOR (Agent of Record) prior to placement to ensure there are no limitations of job location and or job types. 
  • Have basic knowledge on how to mentor the student (client) in disclosing appropriate information regarding past convictions and/or parole status to potential employers. 
  • Have basic knowledge of the criminal record expungement process, the benefits of completing the process, and/or the ability to provide information or a referral on how to expunge a criminal record or obtain a Certificate of Rehabilitation. 
  • Provide counseling and other employability services to the students and assist them in analyzing and evaluating their employment, assets, and aptitudes, provide information on occupational opportunities, job requirements, training, and rehabilitation resources, assist in formulating plans to achieve occupational goals and refer them to appropriate employers, training and educational facilities or other community agencies and organizations, if applicable.
  • Assess students (participants) to determine employment, training, and Career Technical Education (CTE) needs and coordinate referrals with Program Director and other assigned faculty (staff).  
  • Provide employment services including resume writing, mock interviews, time management, how to have a good relationship with others in a work environment, and how to follow instructions. 
  • Assist students (participants) to become prepared for the workforce. 
  • Assist students (participants) in locating and securing employment, educational services, or CTE training. 
  • Assist students (participants) in assembling the necessary documents to legally work within California and completing their initial résumé. 
  • Assist with the recruitment of students (participants) on parole. 
  • Work with students (participants) once they have been placed into employment. 
  • Obtain verification of students (participants) employment. 
  • Work with students (participants) to address issues that may arise after job placement. 
  • Assist students (participants) who lose their job in securing another job. 
  • Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies, as necessary. 
  • Participate in training and mock interviews. 
  • Monitor students (participants) who evidence the best retention rates. 
  • Maintain progress notes in students (participants) files. 
  • Ensure project (program) compliance with Amity policies and procedures, relevant to federal and state regulations and contract obligations. 
  • Actively develop and build upon creative and technical knowledge of TC (Therapeutic Community) project (program) activities. 
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and training as requested by supervisor. 
  • May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • ### What You Will Bring:
  • Required: Four (4) Degree in Social Sciences or related fields,
  • OR 
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of experience as a job developer or similar position.

  • Within six (6) weeks of hire, obtain First Aid and CPR certification AND pass a physical examination and tuberculosis test from a health professional.
  • Ability to cope with occasionally difficult or temperamental students and faculty. 
  • Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position.
