Position Overview
We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support the implementation and daily execution of workplace safety programs within a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This hands-on role focuses on hazard recognition, employee engagement, safety compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout operations.
The ideal candidate will maintain a visible presence on the production floor, work closely with employees and supervisors, and help ensure safe and efficient workplace practices.
### Key Responsibilities:
Shop Floor Safety & Employee Engagement
Maintain a consistent presence throughout the production and fabrication areas.
Observe daily operations and identify potential hazards in real time.
Engage employees to reinforce safe work practices and address unsafe conditions.
Promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
Inspections & Hazard Identification
Conduct routine safety inspections and observations.
Identify safety concerns and opportunities for improvement.
Document findings and track corrective actions through completion.
Support compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Training & Communication
Assist with safety orientation and onboarding for new employees.
Support the delivery of toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions.
Provide practical safety coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors.
Help communicate safety expectations and best practices across the workforce.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss reporting.
Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Help develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed effectively.
Program Administration
Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and related files.
Assist with regulatory and internal compliance documentation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for safety programs and processes.
### Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
2+ years of experience in a safety, EHS, risk management, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
Knowledge of workplace safety principles, hazard recognition, and incident investigation practices.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or related credentials are preferred.
