Job Description

This is a fixed-term contract for 3 months.

Job Purpose 

As a Warehouse & Supplies Associate, you will accurately and efficiently receive and distribute any incoming chemicals or supplies to their corresponding locations as well as manage and maintain inventory of warehouse supplies. You will also be responsible for supplying, replenishing, and providing clean glassware, solvents, and consumables to the laboratories and various departments.  

Key Responsibilities  

Perform Receiving and Processing Functions 

  • Receive, unpack, process and move all incoming supplies and chemicals to designated locations 
  • Safely operate pallet trucks and semi-electric straddle stacker to mover material in warehouse 
  • Check incoming materials and report faults and discrepancies to supervisor or manager 
  • Update all purchase orders of received items as outlined in the SOP 
  • Conduct daily and weekly inventory counts of top warehouse supplies 
  • Create purchase orders and maintain adequate stock levels 
  • Provide on time and efficient delivery of goods to all Departments 
  • Maintain 5S and general housekeeping of warehouse and storage area 
  • Scan all relevant warehouse receiving documents and save in appropriate folder. 

Perform Internal Warehouse Order Delivery Functions 

  • Receive email or in-person warehouse order requests from various departments 
  • Pick requested supplies or pre-packed solvents orders 
  • Deliver materials to the requesting departments 
  • Perform regular inventory counts and maintain stock 
  • Keep accurate records of all deliveries. 

Perform Solvent Dispensing and Delivery Functions 

  • Retrieve empty solvent bottles from production Laboratories 
  • Carefully and accurately replenish solvents in the color-coded bottles as per TIN 
  • Deliver solvents to laboratories in a timely manner and keep accurate records of delivery 
  • Attend to Chemist who come to the warehouse with urgent solvent requests 
  • Dispose of solvent bottles and drums from laboratory to waste area 
  • Report any solvent delivery related incidents to the supervisor or manager. 

Perform Glass Wash and Glassware Delivery Functions 

  • Collect used glassware from the laboratories and segregate for processing 
  • Wash and clean glassware by hand and/or by using automated laboratory glassware washer and ensure clean glassware are available for the laboratories 
  • Assist chemists in locating glassware and equipment in the warehouse 
  • Deliver and restock supply of clean glassware in the laboratories 
  • Identify and create a record of cracked or broken glassware that require repair 
  • Notify Warehouse & Supplies Supervisor regarding equipment or other areas requiring repairs and/or replenishing 

Work Safely 

  • Understand, foresee and report possible safety issues 
  • Abide by health and safety guidelines prescribed by governing bodies and the TRC Environmental Health and Safety Committee 
  • Promote a safe working environment 
  • Work in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety of self or co-workers 

Perform Other Duties 

  • Cross-train to perform shipping and logistics activities 
  • Perform other duties and complete additional projects as assigned 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Information

Role Dimensions 

  • Works with the Supervisor, Warehouse & Supplies and other members of Warehouse & Supplies Department to fulfill customer needs 
  • Works closely with Finished Goods, Analytical, and Chemical Procurement to ensure customer requests are processed safely and expeditiously

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Regularly handle chemical compounds, including toxic substances and materials classified as Dangerous Goods, in accordance with safety protocols
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 85 lbs
  • Safely handle and maneuver heavy loads up to 250 kg using appropriate equipment and techniques
  • Perform cleaning of laboratory glassware that may contain residues of solvents and organic compounds
  • Work in environments where exposure to strong or unpleasant odours may occur
  • Occasionally work in varying weather conditions
  • Availability to work 8-hour shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Pay range for this role is:

Minimum: CAD $42,000/ yearly

Maximum: CAD $45,000/ yearly

The salary range provided covers the minimum and maximum amounts projected for this role. The base salary will be influenced by factors like experience, skills, and location.
