As a Precision Vehicle Holdings company, FWL Surface Solutions was originally created in 2019. FWL Surface Solutions offers year-round surface yard management solutions for the extended Southeast Michigan market. Services range from snow removal in the winter to parking lot maintenance and other services in the summer.
FWL Surface Solutions is looking for a reliable, hands-on Service Technician/Laborer to maintain and service our rental equipment fleet, including light towers, crash gates, and generator sets. This role splits time between in-shop equipment servicing and on-site setup/support. The ideal candidate has a mechanical mindset, is eager to learn, and is comfortable jumping between tasks, whether that's troubleshooting a gen set, setting up an off-site job, or pitching in wherever FWL needs support. Flexibility is the expectation, not the exception.
Key Responsibilities
● Ensure a safe, harassment-free, and discrimination-free work environment by following and enforcing all safety rules and procedures, company policies, applicable laws, and Precision Values
● Service, maintain, and troubleshoot light towers, crash gates, generator sets, and other FWL rental equipment in the shop and on site
● Perform preventative maintenance checks on equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness
● Set up and break down equipment at off-site job locations
● Perform general shop labor including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment stocked with necessary supplies
● Clean and prep equipment for deployment
● Coordinate activities with supervisory personnel and other work units/departments
● Greet employees, customers, and visitors, handling inquiries or directing them appropriately
● Follow directives from the Shop Manager and support overall shop operations
● Perform any other tasks as assigned to support FWL operations, including snow removal and surface management services as needed
Qualifications
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Mechanical acumen and willingness to learn how to service rental equipment (light towers, crash gates, gen sets)
● Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions
● Effective time management skills
● Strong interpersonal skills: active listening, clear verbal and written communication
● Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license
● Ability to pass a drug screen
● Ability to pass a criminal background check
● Experience in snow removal and/or operating skid steers is a plus but not required
Physical Demands of the Job
● Work in various indoor and outdoor environments
● Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
● Frequently navigate a busy environment
● Frequently carry, lift, move, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
● Perform various manual tasks such as ascending/descending ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, twisting, crouching, and reaching, all of which may be repetitive
● Maintain stationary positions for extended durations as needed
● Operate vehicles or mobile equipment as required
● Grip and pinch with both hands and use various hand tools
● Work in proximity to hazardous materials, loud noise, and/or extreme temperatures
● Demonstrate visual acuity and physical dexterity essential for performing the duties associated with the role
Additional Information
● This position requires the employee to be onsite full-time
● A person applying for this position must be available to work full-time, weekends, nights, or an on-call schedule when necessary
● Mandatory overtime is required when necessary
● As an employee, you will be responsible for retaining a valid driver's license, free from any drug or alcohol-related driving convictions or reckless driving, and always remain "insurable" while operating company-owned or controlled vehicles
