About monday.com
monday.com is the AI work platform powering the most ambitious teams. 250,000+ customers across departments use us to bring people, workflows, and AI agents together on one flexible platform where AI doesn't just assist, it executes. We move fast, build things that matter, and foster an ownership-driven culture where you're empowered to shape how organizations work and outpace their competition.
About the team
Our team builds the core applicative infrastructure for monday.com's backend: the frameworks, SDKs, and shared services that hundreds of microservices, and a growing number of AI agents, depend on every day.
Our infrastructure is evolving. Services that were designed for human developers now need to work just as well for autonomous agents, which means rethinking how things are discovered, invoked, and observed when the consumer isn't a person. We're actively re-architecting core parts of the platform to support both.
About the role
What you build will be used by every engineering team at monday.com. You'll shape the foundations that hundreds of services and engineers rely on.
Lead architecture and development of backend frameworks used across all monday.com services, ensuring consistency, reliability, and ease of adoption.
Own large-scale technical initiatives end-to-end, from problem discovery through design, rollout, developer onboarding, and long-term stability.
Work closely with infra, product teams, and AI groups to integrate new capabilities into the core platform.
Improve observability, performance, and correctness across foundational systems.
Provide technical mentorship, lead design reviews, and help shape engineering practices.
Requirements
6+ years of backend engineering experience, with depth in distributed systems and a track record of leading technical projects that influence system design across multiple teams.
Solid experience in modern backend languages and familiarity with multi-language environments.
Strong understanding of service lifecycle fundamentals: API/SDK design, reliability patterns, observability, runtime performance, CI/CD, interoperability.
A mindset that goes beyond using AI as an assistant - you work towards making AI agents operate independently, and you think about what happens when machines, not just people, consume your APIs.
Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous, cross-team problems and drive them to executable solutions.
Clear, concise communication and the ability to collaborate with senior engineers, PMs, and domain owners.
