About Prima Mente

Prima Mente is a frontier biology AI lab. Our first goal is to tackle the brain: to deeply understand it, protect it from neurological disease, and enhance it in health. We generate our own data in our own lab, build general-purpose biological foundation models, and translate discoveries into research and clinical outcomes, in clinical studies we run. Our team of AI researchers, experimentalists, clinicians, and operators is based in London, San Francisco, and UAE.

About the Role

In 1 month you will have taken ownership of our SOPs for processing and storing incoming and outgoing samples for research and clinical studies. Accountability:

• Solo processed at least 25 samples for our Sandbox study at 100% accuracy.

• Familiar with LIMs, Benchling, MyAmici, Lab operational processes and inventory management systems such that minimum interventions are required.

• Own the lab’s interactions with the clinical ops team.

In 2 months you will have upgraded our sample systems, and also directly own the maintenance of the lab inventory & automation set up. Accountability:

• Be making efficiency improvement suggestions, identifying areas for process refinement.

• Own the maintenance schedule including interactions with service and equipment vendors.

• Own lab ordering, inventory management.

• Own H&S related activities, including lab incident and accident report, establishing new protocols where necessary.

• Preparations underway for internal audit.

In 3 months you will be leading analysis of incoming samples and now directly own many key parts of our protocols.

• Have ownership for the effective running of the lab space, improving capacity to handle further samples.

• Have contributed to our automation and process efficiency as we scale the autonomous lab.

Role Direction

At Prima Mente we provide coaching for professional development. It is possible for this role to grow in multiple directions. And we are open to your ideas too. Here are some ideas:

1. Global biosample management.

2. Research co-ordination. E.g. execution of our biomarker strategy by supporting the planning and coordination of all operational activities required for the collection, delivery and use of samples in research studies internally.

3. Lab management & accreditation of the lab to ISO standards.

4. Scientific research, first by supporting our 4 scientists across cell, plasma and tissue experiments, automation and then growing into ownership here.

The Ideal Candidate Experience

We know that time in a role does not correlate directly to experience and capability. We expect you to be able to drive the 1, 2, 3 month outcomes above without any general training. Your experience may look like this:

• B.S./M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.

• Hands-on experience in an industry setting, preferably at a start-up

• Experienced in sample and lab management tooling for traceability and data capture (LIMS, Benchling, MyAmici, etc)

• Experience working with suppliers, vendors and contractors to ensure lab equipment readiness and inventory support.
