Mission
TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies.
We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean, and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack.
To deliver on this vision, TAR manufactures, deploys, and operates off-grid energy assets with a renewable backbone. We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction.
Leave your mark by powering the future of civilisation-scale energy infrastructure.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
Company
We are a team of seasoned operators run by founders who previously scaled a company to over 80 people and $350M in annual sales. We know how to operate, and we move fast.
We are working directly with one of the largest compute providers to make our vision come true and plan to deploy 5GWs by 2028.
TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure.
We operate on…
High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed.
Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We always push ourselves to go faster.
First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption.
Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future. We put in long hours and hard work to solve this.
About the role
You are the single point of accountability for getting TAR's projects built. You own delivery end to end, from development handoff through commercial operation: scope, schedule, budget, and risk. The engineering team sets the technical design, and the development/finance teams source the deals and capital. You make all of it converge on a built, energized, contract-compliant plant in West Texas, on time. You are the person who owns the critical path and is answerable for the date.
This is a first-of-a-kind, behind-the-meter build (solar, BESS, and gas peakers powering a continuous AI data center load) on an aggressive timeline. We need an operator who can hold a dozen workstreams and a roomful of outside firms to a schedule, and who runs toward the long poles rather than around them.
Responsibilities
Own project delivery from development handoff to commercial operation: integrated scope, schedule, budget, and risk register across all workstreams.
Drive the critical path. Find the long pole; manage it and every dependency against the ITC safe-harbor and offtaker milestone dates.
Lead the owner's scope: select, negotiate, and manage the EPC, and direct the Engineer of Record, Owner's Engineer, and Independent Engineer.
Manage the project budget and schedule with real project controls. Report status, risks, and decisions to leadership, the board, and investors.
Coordinate engineering, permitting, procurement, interconnection, construction, and commissioning into one execution plan with clear owners and dates.
Support project finance and diligence: own the technical/schedule side of the data room and answer to lenders, tax equity, and the IE/IC.
Interface with the offtaker on schedule, milestones, and technical coordination under the PPA. You are their primary execution contact.
Run procurement and long-lead ordering to protect the schedule, working with engineering on OEM equipment selection and FEOC-clean options where ITC eligibility is at stake.
Maintain and drive the risk register: identify the existential items early, build mitigations, and escalate decisions that need leadership.
Build and lead the project execution team as the program scales from pilot to the full buildout.
Qualifications
10+ years delivering utility-scale energy or industrial infrastructure (solar, storage, gas generation, data center, or heavy industrial), with direct ownership of projects from development through commercial operation.
Proven track record carrying a 50 MW+ project (or comparable capex) to energization on schedule and budget.
Strong command of project controls: integrated schedules, budgets, change management, and risk.
Hands-on EPC selection and contract negotiation, plus management of EOR, OE, and IE relationships.
Able to manage a long-lead, regulatory critical path without losing the rest of the schedule.
Fluent enough in single-lines and engineering deliverables to challenge them, while leaving the stamped design to the EOR.
Comfort in a fast, ambiguous, first-of-a-kind environment with a bias to decisions and ownership over process.
Preferred
Behind-the-meter, data center, or islanded microgrid delivery experience.
Multi-technology builds combining solar, BESS, and gas generation.
PMP or equivalent project management credential.
