We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical UK Accountant to join our growing finance and accounting team. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in UK accounting practices, bookkeeping, VAT compliance, payroll processing, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial operations for UK-based clients while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

As a UK Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management reports, supporting tax and compliance activities, and delivering high-quality accounting services to clients. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to provide timely financial information, resolve accounting queries, and ensure smooth execution of day-to-day accounting processes.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and hands-on experience with UK accounting software and compliance frameworks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to international accounting practices, work with global clients, and build expertise in UK financial reporting and taxation.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities for UK-based clients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers.
  • Record financial transactions and ensure proper documentation of accounting activities.
  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of routine accounting tasks.

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Perform bank, supplier, and account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
  • Analyze financial records and identify discrepancies for resolution.
  • Assist in preparing reports that support business and financial decision-making.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across all financial reporting activities.

VAT, Payroll & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations.
  • Support payroll processing and related statutory compliance requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with compliance activities related to bookkeeping, taxation, and financial reporting.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting UK accounting and taxation practices.

Year-End Accounts & Tax Support

  • Assist in the preparation and finalization of year-end accounts.
  • Support tax computations and related accounting documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients to obtain required financial information and supporting records.
  • Ensure all financial statements and reports are prepared accurately and within deadlines.
  • Contribute to audit and compliance-related activities when required.

Client Relationship Management

  • Communicate professionally with clients to address accounting queries and information requests.
  • Build strong working relationships through responsive and accurate service delivery.
  • Provide financial information and support to help clients meet reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient handling of client accounts.
  • Maintain a high standard of client service and professionalism.

Accounting Systems & Process Management

  • Utilize accounting software and financial tools to manage accounting operations efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records within accounting platforms and spreadsheets.
  • Support process improvements that enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure data integrity and proper record maintenance across all accounting systems.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • 1–4 years of experience in UK Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Financial Reporting.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, VAT, payroll, and taxation.
  • Hands-on experience working with UK-based clients or accounting firms.
  • Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of HMRC regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements is an advantage.
  • Experience preparing management accounts, VAT returns, and year-end financial statements.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and client relationship management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA (Qualified, Part-Qualified, or Pursuing) are an added advantage.
  • Exposure to international accounting environments and financial reporting practices is highly desirable.
