Steel Fabrication Technician (Structural Components)
Location: Arlington, TN
Pay: $21.00+/hour depending on experience
Shift: Second Shift | Monday–Friday | 4:00 PM – 3:00 AM
Overtime: Occasional Saturdays as needed
Position Summary
We are hiring a Steel Fabrication Technician to join a manufacturing and fabrication team in Arlington, TN. This role is responsible for fitting, assembling, and preparing structural steel components using blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop equipment. The ideal candidate has prior structural steel fabrication experience and can work efficiently in a production environment.
### Key Duties
Review and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, layouts, and weld symbols.
Measure, mark, cut, and assemble structural steel materials according to specifications.
Fit structural components such as beams, columns, stair systems, handrails, and other fabricated metal products.
Prepare assemblies for welding by performing proper fit-up and tack welding.
Operate fabrication equipment including band saws, ironworkers, magnetic drills, grinders, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, and similar shop tools.
Inspect measurements, alignment, and overall fit to ensure quality standards are met.
Safely move materials using overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and other handling devices.
Maintain an organized and safety-focused work area while meeting production goals.
### Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in structural steel fitting, fabrication, or a related trade preferred.
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
Experience with structural layout, measuring, fitting, and assembly processes.
Familiarity with fabrication equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring devices.
Ability to handle heavy materials and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Overhead crane and rigging experience is a plus.
### Preferred Welding Experience
Experience using Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in a fabrication setting.
Ability to produce quality welds on structural steel materials.
Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions preferred.
