We are looking for an enthusiastic and determined individual to join our well-established team who will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and modern Pharmacy service You will undertake activities within the Pharmacy Manufacturing Department to continue the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients.
The role of a Manufacturing Assistant is a fundamental role within the Manufacturing department as you will be assisting in the day to day production operational work of the Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit.
Under supervision you will assemble, prepare, check/label, and print aseptic and non-sterile products for Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU), and its external customers. We will expect you to have a good eye for detail, an interest/curiosity in manufacturing processes and the ability to work within a team environment.
Full training will be provided by our training lead as well as support from the wider team, you be supported until a level of competence is achieved.
You will have excellent opportunities to learn and fully utilise your strong organisation and attention to details skills daily where you will be making a direct impact to the rest of the Pharmacy team and patients too. As you will be handling various sized equipment, physical fitness is a must; it is not a sit at a desk job and involves walking lifting etc so perfect for those who love to be on the go! Qualifications
Essential
- Level 1 qualification/GCSE higher pass or above including maths and English or equivalent qualifications, or work experience that demonstrates comparable ability in a similar field.
Experience

- Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures and follow written instructions
Desirable
- Previous experience in a similar role: a Clean room or pharmaceutical background
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Clear literate handwriting and numeracy skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Able to maintain high concentration for long periods
- Health & Safety/security awareness
- Able to investigate problems logically
- Demonstrated ability to handle hazardous materials safely and according to local work instructions
- Proactive attitude to ongoing training and assessment
