Civil Engineer

Apex Companies LLC is seeking a highly motivated project engineer who has the desire to step in and lead civil engineering design projects and provide direction to our civil design teams. This position would serve a diverse portfolio of both public and private clients within our existing portfolio and would require individuals who have a strong desire to want to be client facing and out developing relationships in the marketplace. A large majority of our projects are multi-disciplinary and look to incorporate our full breadth of services. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and be supported by a full suite of engineering and environmental services lines 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Receive direction on engineering tasks and maintain active communication with project managers. 
• Support client satisfaction and ensure that client objectives are met. 
• Participate in professional organizations and functions. 
• Effectively manage multiple assignments and prioritize with input from project managers and professional engineers. 
• Willingness to work in fast paced environments across multiple engineering disciplines and project types. 
• Preparation of construction documents required to construct both public and private infrastructure projects.  
• Prepare written reports detailing design and functionality of stormwater systems in accordance with local and state stormwater requirements.  
• Prepare detailed stormwater models. 
• Prepare utility designs for stormwater, municipal water and sewer systems 
• Design of roadways and preparation of grading analysis for sites.  
• Deliver engineering design projects using Autodesk Civil 3D software.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• A bachelor’s in civil engineering and professional registration is required or obtainable within 2 years of hire (Washington and/or Oregon) 
• 5+ years' experience as a consulting engineer
• A solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions / constraints. 
• A proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets. 
• Familiarity with local code requirements 
• Flexibility and creativity in engineering approaches 
• Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology modeling and MS software applications 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and management. 

Desirable Qualifications 

• Proficient skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D highly desired 
• Obtained Engineer in Training (EIT) license or ability to obtain within one year 
• Familiarity with Hydro-CAD stormwater modeling software 
• Relevant internship or previous professional experience
