Job Description
At Veilant, we are doing meaningful work in the defense space, and we are looking for a sharp, motivated Contract Administrator to grow with us.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to break into government contracting and build a long-term career in the contracts management arena. You do not need to come in as an expert. We are looking for someone with strong business judgment, attention to detail, clear communication skills, and the drive to learn how Department of Defense contracts are managed the right way.
This is not a paper-pushing role. This is a career-building seat where contracts meet mission. You will learn how compliance, documentation, customer requirements, internal operations, and contract execution all come together to support critical defense work.
If you are a recent college graduate, early-career professional, or someone with a background in business administration, communications, pre-law, finance, government, or operations, this role could be a strong entry point into a high-demand field.
What You Will Learn and Support
You will support the administration of Veilant’s Department of Defense contracts while learning the full contract lifecycle from award through execution and closeout. You will work closely with Program Managers, Project Managers, finance, leadership, and other internal stakeholders to help keep contract activity organized, compliant, accurate, and on track.
Over time, you will develop hands-on experience with government contracting concepts, contract documentation, compliance requirements, contract modifications, deliverable tracking, and internal contract processes.
This role is designed for someone we can develop into a rising star within contracts management.
What You Will Own Over Time
As you grow in the role, you will begin supporting and eventually owning key areas such as:
- Maintaining accurate contract files, records, and administrative documentation
- Supporting contract setup, tracking, reporting, and internal coordination
- Assisting with contract modifications, task orders, deliverables, and deadlines
- Learning how FFP, IDIQ, and Task Order contracts operate
- Helping ensure documentation aligns with internal processes and government requirements
- Supporting communication between contracts, programs, finance, and operations
- Developing an understanding of FAR, DFARS, and DOD compliance expectations
- Building strong working relationships with Program Managers and Project Managers
In Your First 6 Months, You Will
- Develop a strong understanding of Veilant’s contracts portfolio and how our DOD work is structured
- Learn our contract administration processes, tools, workflows, and documentation standards
- Support the organization and maintenance of contract files and key compliance records
- Begin assisting with Independent Contractor processes and related administrative tracking
- Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, especially Program Managers and Project Managers
- Gain exposure to FAR, DFARS, FFP contracts, IDIQ vehicles, Task Orders, and other core government contracting concepts
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to manage sensitive information responsibly
Qualifications
Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Pre-Law, Finance, Government, Public Administration, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines, documentation, and multiple priorities with accuracy
- Interest in building a career in government contracting, contract administration, or contracts management
- Professional judgment, discretion, and willingness to learn compliance-driven processes
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, including program, project, finance, and leadership stakeholders
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
- U.S. citizenship, as required for security clearance eligibility
Nice to Haves
- Internship, coursework, or professional exposure related to contracts, business operations, legal administration, procurement, finance, or government programs
- 2 to 5 years of contract administration experience supporting DOD portfolios
- Experience managing or supporting FFP and IDIQ/Task Order contracts
- Working knowledge of FAR and DFARS
- Active Secret clearance or higher
- Prior experience with a prime defense contractor
- Bachelor’s degree in Contract Management or a closely related discipline
- NCMA certification, such as CPCM or CFCM, or interest in pursuing certification
- Experience with contract management systems such as Deltek or similar platforms
- Familiarity with government property, subcontract management, or independent contractor administration
Who Will Thrive in This Role
You will do well here if you are curious, precise, dependable, and motivated by work that matters. You may not know government contracting yet, but you are the type of person who takes ownership, asks thoughtful questions, learns quickly, and takes pride in getting the details right.
We are looking for someone who wants more than a first job. We are looking for someone who wants to build a career.
At Veilant, you will have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced leaders, support meaningful defense work, and grow into a trusted contracts professional in one of the most important areas of government contracting.
