Job Description
Position Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for leading, prioritizing, and directing production staff on all primary operations and job functions. They ensure the safety, quality, and output of their area while adhering to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Utilize OPS and relevant machine and Team boards to monitor daily production and quality output, addressing excessive downtime as needed.
- Schedule daily production, allocate resources, ensure vacation coverage, and manage overtime activity.
- Conduct department employee meetings at the start of each shift and participate in Gemba walks.
- Provide timely feedback to enhance performance and foster a positive work environment for employees.
- Offer feedback and recommendations for training or coaching personnel.
- Complete Team Leader, 5S, and verification audits.
- Collect and reconcile work orders.
- Monitor preventative maintenance activities to ensure completion.
- Enforce compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental, Legal, Quality, and Oetiker policies and procedures.
- Lead and implement OPS improvements.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Mechanically Inclined
- Knowledge of production equipment
Software Proficiency
- Proficient in word-processing and spreadsheet applications
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows
Communication Skills
- Strong interpersonal and business writing skills
Labour Management
- Knowledge of Employment Standards (Ministry Supplied Booklet)
- Health and Safety
- Knowledge of the current Canadian Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations (including WHMIS)
- Familiarity with machine guarding standards
- Understanding of Lock-out Tag-out procedures
Quality and Environmental Systems
- Knowledge of ISO/TS 16949 and related policies, procedures, and process manuals (including APQP)
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control techniques
- Familiarity with metrology
- Knowledge of ISO 14000
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- College diploma, preferably in a relevant field, would be considered an asset
- Completion of the Ontario Management Development Program (OMDP), would be considered an asset
- 2-4 years of supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing or a high-volume manufacturing environment, would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of IATF 16949
