Job Description

The Mobile Stroke Unit EMT Driver reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Mobile Stroke Unit EMT Driver is responsible for driving a first response vehicle to acute stroke 911 calls.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions as a member of the Mobile Stroke Unit Critical Care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill or injured patients with special focus on the stroke patient.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards, within specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
  • Demonstrates a patient-centered focus in a high stress environment at all times along.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship.
  • Ensures the safety of patients and all others functioning in and around the Mobile Stroke Unit.
  • Utilizes appropriate safety channels to report safety concerns, and uses tools available to enhance a safe work environment.
  • Assists in lifting, carrying and transporting patients.
  • Maintains supplies, ensures ambulance and equipment maintenance.
  • Annual Competencies of expanded scope of knowledge, equipment, and procedures shall be completed (based upon licensure level).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • IDPH EMT-Basic license.
  • AHA Healthcare Provider BLS.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience driving fire engines, tenders, or trucks.
  • Class B non-CDL.

Preferred:

  • IDPH EMT-Paramedic license.
  • 5 years of fire engineer experience.
  • AHA ACLS.
  • AHA PALS.
  • NAEMT PHTLS.
