AECOM is seeking an experienced Scheduling Manager to join our team in one of our office in Dublin.

What You’ll Do

The Scheduling Manager is accountable for ensuring the effective delivery of accurate, timely, and reliable programme schedules across all capital projects undertaken by the Infrastructure function. The role provides leadership, oversight, and direction to embedded scheduling teams, driving the consistent application of scheduling standards, methodologies, systems, and tools while maintaining the quality and integrity of schedule outputs and performance reporting.

A key responsibility of the role is to promote continuous improvement across scheduling practices, enhancing efficiency, consistency, and the overall effectiveness of programme controls.

Working closely with the Programme Controls Manager, the Scheduling Manager will support workforce planning activities, including the recruitment, allocation, and development of scheduling personnel. The role will also facilitate the coordination and communication of scheduling information across Programme Controls and wider functional teams, ensuring alignment and informed decision-making throughout project delivery.

Functional Requirements, Standards & Performance

  • Lead the planning, development, and management of complex, multi-project programme schedules, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and successful programme delivery.
  • Oversee the preparation and coordination of executive-level progress reports, providing clear insight into programme performance, critical risks, mitigation strategies, and key decision points.
  • Establish robust governance and quality assurance processes for schedule development, monitoring, performance measurement, and reporting across the programme portfolio.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating existing scheduling methodologies, systems, and processes, implementing enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall programme performance.
  • Provide leadership in the application of scheduling standards, ensuring consistency, compliance, and best practice across all projects and programmes.

Programme Scheduling & Controls

  • Monitor, analyse, and evaluate programme schedules to identify critical path issues, emerging risks, and potential delays, ensuring appropriate recovery and mitigation plans are developed and implemented.
  • Produce high-quality programme controls analysis and executive reporting, translating complex data into meaningful insights to support informed decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of integrated master schedules, coordinating inputs from multiple project teams, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure programme-wide alignment.
  • Analyse schedule variances against approved baselines, identifying trends, bottlenecks, and performance gaps while recommending corrective actions to maintain programme objectives.
  • Collaborate with project delivery teams to develop and maintain resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules where applicable, supporting effective forecasting and performance management.
  • Direct the development and implementation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS), ensuring alignment with programme execution strategies, governance requirements, and reporting frameworks.
  • Support the integration of programme controls disciplines, ensuring scheduling activities are effectively aligned with cost management, risk management, change control, and performance reporting functions.

Leadership, Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Foster a high-performing scheduling function by providing leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities to scheduling personnel.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence in schedule management and programme controls delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, programme leadership, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders to support successful programme outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on scheduling and programme controls matters, providing expert guidance and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ensure responsive, accurate, and professional communication of scheduling information, effectively addressing stakeholder queries and supporting timely decision-making.

Qualifications

Ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible?

  • Minimum of 15 years’ professional experience in project planning, scheduling, and programme controls, including at least 3 years supporting major aviation, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure programmes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing schedules for complex, high-value capital projects, with a strong understanding of infrastructure delivery lifecycle requirements.
  • Proven ability to consolidate, integrate, and manage multiple schedule inputs, performance metrics, and project data streams within an enterprise scheduling environment, producing accurate programme-wide schedules and executive-level reporting.
  • Extensive experience working within multidisciplinary project environments, either in a consultancy, client-side, or contractor organisation, with a strong understanding of stakeholder expectations and project governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex schedule data and provide meaningful insights to support programme decision-making.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse project teams and external stakeholders to drive schedule alignment, performance improvement, and successful project outcomes.
