Introduction to the role

The Senior Investment Manager will be responsible for leading the day to day investment activity in Australia.

Reporting to the Investment Director of APAC, you will play a central role in coordinating across Eku Energy’s teams, leading the investment analysis which will be critical in selection and prioritization of opportunities in Australia, assessing how Eku Energy maximises its return on its equity capital deployed in development expenditure, and driving final investment decisions in Australia.

Requirements

The role will be based in Sydney and will comprise the following key responsibilities:

Custodian of our equity capital: you will play a critical role in formulating recommendations to the Managing Director and Investment Director on equity capital allocation to projects during development and recommend final investment decisions.

You will have a strong focus on risk and return and an ability to clearly communicate all capital allocation decisions through a risk and return framework.

Assess value and risk management: you will have a keen focus on risk and return and have strong first principles thinking through how to think about risk and return. You will actively contribute to managing project risks, including back-to-back risk positions in revenue and EPC and O&M arrangements

Relationship management: you will develop strong relationships with key stakeholders including advisers, due diligence providers, lenders, capital providers and in the market including government and regulatory

Country level and project funding strategy: you will come up with and execute on the equity and debt funding plan for Japan that maximizes value for Company, this includes considering equity sell downs, funding partnerships and acquisitions and divestments of projects (development, construction and operating)

Internal Reporting and Analytics: From a value perspective, you will monitor and measure returns in real time on our devex and equity investments to ensure we can rapidly make decisions

Leadership and Co-ordination: Investment Management brings together our business: you will play a key role in facilitating open and clear communication to ensure all teams are aware of priorities and how this maximises value for Company.

Track record in executing complex transactions: making key judgements on transactions and ensuring transaction execution is effective

Origination and opportunity selection [optional]: you will be responsible for opportunity selection, origination strategies (organic projects, acquisitions, partnerships). You will set the priorities of projects and resource allocation to maximize value

 

Competencies of the role

8-10 years of relevant investment experience is a must

Have a bachelor or post graduate degree in a relevant field

Ability to work globally: with time zones in the UK, Europe, Australia and Japan

Action orientated and outcomes driven: we are a small high-performance team you will be empowered and expected to drive outcomes

Communication and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work across functions, obtain information, provide relevant information in a timely and meaningful way

Strong relationship management skills
