Job Description

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Transport!

The ANZ Transport Strategic Pursuits Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping AECOM’s growth by identifying, planning, and executing strategic, high-value pursuits that align with long-term business objectives. Acting as the central point of leadership on must-win pursuits, the Strategic Pursuits Manager ensures each opportunity is approached with a clear win strategy, tailored messaging, and a deep understanding of the client’s business needs and strategic drivers.

Beyond proposal execution, this role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, CAMs, and technical teams, supporting the development of long-term pursuit strategies and contributing to overall business development capability. The Strategic Pursuits Manager also plays a key role in embedding pursuit best practices across the business, coaching teams on client-centric storytelling, differentiating value propositions, and continuous improvement through debriefs and knowledge sharing.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that offers the opportunity to influence the organisation’s success in winning transformational work, building enduring client relationships, and driving market leadership in key sectors.

As the Strategic Pursuits Manager, you will:

  • Partner with Bid Directors and capture teams to craft compelling submissions for large, complex pursuits.
  • Establish value propositions, differentiated service offerings, ‘hot button messages’, message themes, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Understand capture planning best practices and provide robust support and guidance to capture managers in developing the win strategy.
  • Participate actively in Go/No-Go decisions.
  • Lead Business Line Sales/Pursuits Meetings to align stakeholders, track progress, and drive accountability.
  • Monitor market – assess competitors, client priorities, and government/industry trends to shape pursuit strategies.
  • Develop a small team of bid specialists, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes open communication and feedback

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, strategic thinker who can navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and energise multidisciplinary teams to deliver compelling, client-focused responses. They possess strong commercial insight, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the pursuit lifecycle—ranging from early positioning and capture planning through to proposal development, presentation coaching, and post-submission debriefs.

  • 10+ years of experience in relevant roles.
  • Experience in successfully leading bid/project teams, coordinating teams and stakeholders and meeting delivery requirements in demanding environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment and use influencing skills to drive initiatives.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adeptly present ideas and suggestions to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with/advise all levels of seniority in environments with pressing delivery schedules.
  • Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, AdobeExpress, Salesforce (or similar) and online collaboration tools (ie Mural, Miro).
