Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineer to support our client, the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, you will help modernize VA’s eligibility and enrollment systems, supporting millions of Veterans, their families, and caregivers. If you have experience in working with VA, Next.js, Java 17+, and Spring Boot, we’d love to hear from you.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to ship new systems and features.
Maintain legacy systems.
Follow and influence standards for clean, maintainable, efficient code and processes.
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure the quality of the codebase.
Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues.
Assist with pitches and proposals to prospective clients, showcasing MO’s technical capabilities and solutions.
2-5 years experience as an engineering professional.
Implement complex software, scope projects, and lead productive code and design reviews.
Experience with technologies such as TypeScript, Next.js, Java 17+, Spring Boot, AWS, Bash, Github Actions, test automation, and relational databases.
Experience with accessibility, privacy, security, monitoring, and writing software that handles PII.
Ability to lead and mentor more junior engineers with empathy and support for their skills growth.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
