What You’ll Get to Do
The Shipping & Receiving Material Handler is responsible for supporting warehouse and production operations by safely moving, loading, unloading, and preparing materials for shipment and storage. This role works with both inbound and outbound materials, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.
This position reports to the Production or Shipping Supervisor and is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull and prepare customer orders using bills of lading and shipment documentation
- Package, label, and stage materials for shipment or pickup
- Load and unload materials (glass, metal products, doors, frames) from trucks, racks, crates, and tables
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and damage; report any discrepancies and damages immediately
- Read and interpret measurements using a tape measure and basic math skills
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of work areas (5S standards)
- Follow all safety procedures and quality standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Safely and properly stock inventory in designated areas
- Participate in inventory counts and periodic cycle counts
What We Are Looking For
- Prior experience in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to safely operate or learn material-handling equipment
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, quality, and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Basic math skills and ability to read measurements
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends, as needed
- Forklift Certified a plus (or ability to get certified)
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on a concrete floor for 8–10 hours per shift
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels
- Ability to work in varying climate conditions (heat, cold, humidity typical of Houston)
