Job Description
The Painter is responsible for performing skilled interior and exterior painting work across multiple residential, educational, and administrative facilities. This role includes all aspects of surface preparation, repair, finishing, and coating applications to ensure high-quality, durable, and safe finishes.
The Painter supports the Facilities Department in maintaining clean, professional, and code-compliant environments while minimizing disruption to program operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Painting & Finishing
- Perform interior and exterior painting using brush, roller, and spray applications
- Apply primers, sealers, stains, and specialty coatings as required
- Surface Preparation
- Prepare surfaces including scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and cleaning
- Repair drywall, plaster, and minor wood surfaces prior to painting
- Exterior Work
- Perform power washing and surface cleaning prior to exterior painting
- Scrape and prep exterior siding, trim, doors, and other building components
- Repairs & Maintenance
- Perform minor drywall installation and repair (patching holes, seams, and cracks)
- Conduct minor carpentry repairs related to painting projects (trim, fascia, etc.)
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety policies
- Utilize proper PPE (respirators, eye protection, gloves, etc.)
- Operations & Coordination
- Work across multiple properties and prioritize tasks based on operational needs
- Coordinate with site leadership to minimize disruption to programs and residents
- Professional Standards
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance of all completed work
- Interact respectfully with staff, residents, students, and visitors
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of professional painting experience (interior and exterior)
- Experience with surface preparation, drywall repair, and finishing techniques
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation between sites
- Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple locations
Preferred:
- Experience working in schools, residential programs, healthcare, or similar environments
- Familiarity with low-VOC and specialty coatings
- Basic carpentry or general maintenance experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying environmental conditions
Additional:
- Must pass background checks as required for working in programs serving children and vulnerable populations
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all setting
- Participate in Facilities Department safety training and meetings
