Job Description

The Trading Meteorologist - Renewables Forecasting will have responsibilities including but not limited to the following: 

  • Build data flows for capturing reliable weather data 
  • Create alerts based on specific weather phenomena or special events 
  • Create and improve renewables forecasts for our portfolios across Europe based on numerical weather models 
  • Lead the effort for using AI/ML tools for developing new models 
  • Provide daily weather expectations based on weather data to the intraday trading teams 
  • Help intraday and day-ahead trading teams build a meteorological understanding of trading patterns 
  • Follow academic publications and market trends and work on their implementation in the context of renewables forecasting 
  • Regularly update stakeholders on recent developments and performance evaluations 

Qualifications

Your profile: 

  • Excellent university degree in mathematics, physics, meteorology or engineering with strong quantitative focus 
  • Several years of experience in meteorology for short-term power markets 
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills 
  • Significant modelling and programming experience preferably in Python  
  • Strong commercial mind set 
  • Proactive and independent way of working 
  • Excellent communication in English is a must
