Looking for a new adventure? You’ve come to the right place.

We're an Amsterdam-based team of 90+ (and counting) with 25+ nationalities amongst us. A varied bunch of “Citizens of The World” with a range of cool skills and hundreds of thousands of kilometers under our travel belts. We also have something important in common (other than our very well-worn passports): We want to change the way people travel. And that's exactly what we're doing, with the travel app to plan, track, and remember trips in a smart and beautiful way.

Polarsteps has over 20 million users already, but, for us, this is just the start. You see, there are amazing new features on our roadmap, and we need even more talented & ambitious people to help us on our journey.

Your expedition: People & Operations Coordinator

We want to be the very best tech scale-up to work for in the Netherlands (if not the world!). That means creating and maintaining a happy team. And not just kinda happy or happy enough. We mean really genuinely happy. Because we truly care about our people and the unique company culture that they help us to create.

To make this happen, we go above and beyond to look after our team, from the moment someone joins us to the everyday moments in between. Our people processes are the backbone of how we operate: smooth, reliable, and human. As we continue to grow, we need someone to help keep those foundations strong and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

We believe that great people operations are needed to build a great company. As a People & Operations Coordinator, you'll own the execution of the processes that keep our team running: from contracts and onboarding to payroll admin, events, and the day-to-day questions that matter to every single person here.

You'll be joining our PeopleOps team, currently a small team doing a lot. We believe this role is ideal for someone early in their career and seeking more experience in a scale-up environment. The role is part-time, 24-32 hours a week. This role starts with a 7-month contract, with the aim of being extended for up to 3 years in total.

Your itinerary:

What your journey at Polarsteps will look like day-to-day.

  • Work closely with our PeopleOps team on onboarding and offboarding to ensure a smooth experience for every joiner and leaver: tool access, checklists, onboarding plans and introduction meetings.

  • Own our employment documents: contracts, extensions, freelance agreements, and employer statements. You make sure they're always accurate and on time.

  • Support our team by being the first point of contact for day-to-day employee questions about payslips, expenses, learning & development requests, time off, and anything in between.

  • Support payroll admin: collect mutations, pension administration, and keep everything tidy.

  • Handle short-term sick leave: record absences and flag concerns to the right people.

  • Support with team events and Learning & Development initiatives: from Lunch & Learns, AI sessions to Lab-days and Expedition Days.

  • Ensure a connected, friendly environment where we truly live our value "We are human".

The equipment in your backpack

What we’re hoping you’ll bring with you.

  • 1-2 years of experience in a fast-growing scale-up in a People or Operations role: through an internship, a first job, or a mix of both. You genuinely enjoy this kind of work.

  • Exceptionally organized and reliable: when you own a process, it gets done thoroughly and on time.

  • Empathetic and discreet: you understand that people come to you with real questions and handle them with care.

  • A friendly and proactive mindset: you find real satisfaction in making things easier for the people around you.

  • Solution-oriented: ad hoc situations and shifting priorities don't throw you off, and you are comfortable doing important work that isn't always in the spotlight.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Knowledge of the Dutch language and Dutch Labour Law is a nice-to-have

  • Available to start as soon as possible, ideally by July 1, 2026. We're not able to offer relocation support or visa sponsorship for this role.

At Polarsteps, we believe the best products are built by people as diverse as the travelers using our apps! That's why we specifically encourage people underrepresented in the tech industry to apply for a role with us. Because we believe that diversity, be it age, race, sexual orientation, physical ability, ethnicity, or gender identity, makes both the world and the workplace better.
