About the role

We are growing fast, and we are looking for a Senior People & Culture Business Partner to be a trusted, senior advisor to leaders across Future Secure AI, providing end-to-end people partnership in a fast-growing, global AI organisation. Based in Sydney, you will support leaders across the full employee lifecycle while ensuring compliance with Australian employment legislation and alignment with our global people frameworks. You will join a newly forming People and Culture function working alongside an existing Senior P&C Business Partner in APAC and one based in NAM.

This role calls for the credibility and confidence to operate effectively with a highly capable, influential and intellectually rigorous workforce in a fast-moving AI and technology environment. You bring a high degree of autonomy and judgement, and you are energised by the pace of a global scale-up. Success looks like leaders who trust your counsel, fair and well-handled outcomes on the most sensitive matters, and your input into people practices that scale cleanly as the business grows.

Key Accountabilities

The scope of this role is broad and will evolve with the business. Your core areas of ownership include:

Leader and Talent Partnership

  • Trusted partnership: partner with senior leaders to provide pragmatic, commercially sound people advice.
  • Coach through key moments: coach leaders through performance management, career development, retention and talent decisions.
  • Support distributed teams: support leaders managing remote and globally distributed teams.

Employee Relations and Risk

  • Lead ER end-to-end: lead employee relations matters end-to-end, including grievances, investigations, performance and exits.
  • Apply strong judgement: bring sound, considered judgement to complex and sensitive matters.
  • Partner with legal: work alongside legal advisors where required.
  • Fair, compliant outcomes: ensure outcomes are fair, compliant and aligned to FSAI values.

Governance and Compliance

  • Embed policy: interpret and help to embed People & Culture policies across the business.
  • Compliance and WHS: ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation and WHS obligations.
  • Scalable governance: contribute to strengthening scalable governance as the business grows

Scale Up Support

  • Reward and role design: provide input into remuneration, role design and reward cycles.
  • Practices that scale: help build people practices that scale while keeping bureaucracy to a minimum.

What We're Looking For

This is a senior People & Culture role for someone who leads with credibility, works calmly through complexity, and is energised by a high-growth, global AI environment. The partner who thrives here demonstrates:

  • Trusted Advisory Presence: you earn the confidence of senior, intellectually rigorous leaders and advise them with pragmatism and commercial sense.
  • Sound Judgement Under Pressure: you handle the most complex and sensitive employee relations matters fairly, calmly and in line with company values.
  • Autonomy and Ownership: you operate with a high degree of independence, take ownership of outcomes, and follow through with purpose.
  • Comfort with Pace and Ambiguity: you adapt as priorities shift, establishing structure where it does not yet exist.
  • A Builder of Scalable Practice: you design people practices that hold up as the business grows, without adding unnecessary process.
  • Clear, Adaptable Communication: you communicate with clarity and professionalism, adjusting your approach to suit the audience and the situation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 to 10+ years’ experience in HR / People & Culture roles
  • Strong background in technology, scale-up, start-up or professional services
  • Demonstrated track record partnering with highly intelligent and specialist workforces
  • Deep knowledge of Australian employment law and WHS
  • Experience supporting an internationally mobile workforce
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations matters
  • Confidence operating autonomously and advising senior leaders

  • Genuine scale of impact and purpose
  • A competitive salary and a significant growth trajectory
  • The opportunity to work with the best in the industry
  • A flexible, hybrid work environment
  • Diversity and creativity
