Platform & Automation Engineer

About the Role

This position focuses on designing, building, and evolving internal platforms and automation systems that improve how the business operates. Working closely with the Lead Platform & Automation Architect, the role is responsible for delivering scalable, reliable solutions that reduce manual effort and streamline workfl ows across the organisation.

The role centres on using modern tooling, including AI and automation frameworks, to develop production-ready systems that improve efficiency, reduce operational overhead, and support consistent, reliable delivery. The emphasis is on end-to-end execution, from problem identifi cation through to implementation and ongoing improvement, aligned to defi ned direction and priorities.

This is a cross-functional role spanning engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams. While technical input and problem-solving are expected, work is carried out in alignment with the direction and architectural decisions set by the Lead Platform & Automation Architect.

Position Functions

● Design and implement internal platforms, systems, and automation frameworks in line with defi ned direction and priorities

● Identify workfl ow inefficiencies and contribute to solution design, aligned with architectural direction

● Build and maintain automation workfl ows, integrations, and services across internal and third-party systems

● Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

● Execute end-to-end delivery of solutions, from implementation through to deployment and iteration

● Develop internal tooling and abstractions that simplify complex processes for business users

● Ensure systems are performant, reliable, and maintainable over time

● Contribute to modernisation efforts, including improving or replacing existing systems

● Apply established standards, patterns, and guardrails across all implementations

● Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise systems to maintain reliability and performance

● Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and implement aligned solutions

● Document systems, workfl ows, and implementation details to support scalability and maintainability

Requirements

Technical Skills

● Strong understanding of programming fundamentals (e.g. variables, functions, control fl ow, and basic data structures)

● Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern development practices

● Experience building applications using TypeScript and a React-based framework (Next.js preferred)

● Ability to design, build, debug, and iterate on applications, scripts, and automation workfl ows

● Strong focus on building systems that are performant, efficient, and maintainable over time

● Familiarity with automation concepts and integrating APIs or third-party services

● Experience building internal tools or workfl ow-based systems

● Practical use of artifi cial intelligence tools to assist in the development of systems and automations

● Experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workfl ows

● Understanding of deployment processes, release management, and environment separation (e.g. dev/staging/production)

● Experience with version control systems (GitHub preferred)

● Experience working with databases (SQL or NoSQL)

● Familiarity with tools such as Jira or similar ticketing/workfl ow systems

● Understanding of Agile or iterative delivery approaches
