Job Description
In the role of Inside Sales & Contracts Engineer, you are responsible for accurately translating customer purchase orders into sales orders within the ERP system. You ensure correct and timely order entry and processing, prepare and provide customer quotations, and manage follow-up activities. In addition, you act as a key point of contact for customers, handling a wide range of order-related, commercial, and administrative inquiries.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:
- Accurately review and translate customer purchase orders into sales orders within the ERP system, ensuring completeness and compliance with commercial terms.
- Process sales orders in a timely manner, coordinating with internal teams (engineering, supply chain, production, finance) to resolve discrepancies or clarifications.
- Prepare, issue, and track customer quotations in line with pricing policies, contract terms, and delivery commitments.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding order status, pricing, delivery schedules, documentation, and general commercial inquiries.
- Manage order changes, amendments, and cancellations, ensuring correct system updates and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Proactively follow up on quotations, open orders, and customer requests to support order conversion and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in order management and sales administration processes.
Qualifications
Experience Required:
- Commercial or technical background enabling understanding of product specifications, pricing structures, and contractual terms
- Mechanical engineering degree would be a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required; knowledge of Dutch or German is considered a plus
- Technical knowledge of mechanical systems – Valves and/or actuators and gearboxes is a plus
- Strong customer service skills
- Microsoft office package skills – mainly Word and Excel
The Successful Candidate:
- Experience with contract management software
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
- Knowledge of sales processes and contract management
- Understanding of basic legal terminology related to contracts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
