A world empowered by autonomy. We build robotic vehicles to improve logistics safety, forge a greener Earth, and enhance human lives.

We are a closely-knit team aspiring to change the world through disruptive technology. We are innovators. We are tinkerers. We are problem-solvers. And we have a fair amount of magic dust up our sleeves. We have a plan for fleet-level deployment of autonomous vehicles, and we are looking for the best-of-the-best to join us in making this a reality.

About Venti Technologies

Based in the U.S. and Asia, Venti Technologies is the leader in safe-speed autonomous logistics systems, developing the future of goods transportation. Using rigorous mathematics, deep learning, and theoretically-grounded algorithms, Venti has a proprietary collection of autonomy technologies including a suite of powerful logistics algorithms. Venti’s proven value proposition of saving costs, increasing vehicle utilization, and improving safety is recognized by customers and driving growth. Launched in 2018, Venti brings together an unsurpassed team internationally. The company has autonomous systems deployed in Asia for industrial and logistics sites and a growing pipeline. Venti has offices in Cambridge (Massachusetts, USA), Suzhou (China), and Singapore – our Asian headquarters.

Position overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with at least 2 years of experience to join our team. Your main focus will be designing parts that are ready to be used in heavy-duty autonomous trucks, not just on a screen. You need to be fast and accurate in SolidWorks and genuinely understand how parts get made. We need someone who knows the limits of sheet metal bending, CNC milling, and 3D printing, and uses that knowledge to design parts that keep our manufacturing costs low. You should also have a basic understanding on electrical and pneumatic systems to help integrate our mechanical designs with the rest of the AV system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Sub-Assemblies: Design and develop custom brackets, mounts, and modular sub-assemblies that neatly integrate mechanical parts, measuring mechanisms, sensors, computers, and routing.

  • Develop Data Mechanisms: Design and validate mechanisms for acquiring real-time data, including wheel encoders, joint positions, and articulated body angles.

  • Vehicle & Machine Mapping: Measure physical trucks and machinery in person to create accurate CAD models for installing the Venti AV kit.

  • Sourcing & Vendor Management: Create clear manufacturing drawings, send them out to suppliers for quotes, and manage the fabrication process.

  • Prototyping & Testing: Build, test, and physically validate your designs to catch and fix issues before they go into full production.

  • Production Hand-off: Write detailed, step-by-step assembly instructions so the fabrication and integration teams can build your designs without confusion.

  • Maintenance Planning: Write up clear maintenance plans for your designs to ensure the hardware is easy to service down the road.

  • BOM Management: Create and manage cross-project Bills of Materials (BOMs) and keep track of component suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2 or more years working as a mechanical design engineer or similar

  • CAD: Strong, daily experience modelling parts in SolidWorks, including specific familiarity with sheet metal operations and surface modelling.

  • Manufacturing Knowledge: You must know how to design specifically for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing.

  • Cost Control: A track record of making smart design choices that keep production simple and cheap.

  • Hands-on Work: Comfortable getting your hands dirty building prototypes and physically validating your designs.

  • Technical Drawings: Experienced in creating clear technical drawings for manufacturing and detailed assembly instructions for the production team.

  • Electrical: A basic understanding of how to integrate wiring, sensors, and connectors into your mechanical designs.

  • Pneumatics: Knowing your way around valves, cylinders, and air routing.

  • Comfortable managing your time and working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary is commensurate with experience. We also offer world-class benefits, fantastic culture, flexible working arrangements, and a great international working environment. Come and join us!
