Job Description

AECOM's Buildings + Places team is seeking a motivated Senior Engineer – Vertical Transportation to join our Building Engineering team. This role would suit an experienced engineer who is ready to take greater ownership of vertical transport project delivery, develop deeper technical capability and step into client-facing and coordination responsibilities.

You will contribute to the design and delivery of lift, escalator and moving walk systems across a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. Working closely with senior technical leaders, you will help shape high-quality vertical transportation solutions while continuing to grow your own expertise and professional profile.

How you’ll make a difference:

  • Deliver vertical transportation engineering support across multiple projects, contributing to the design, coordination and documentation of lift, escalator and moving walk systems.
  • Undertake and review passenger traffic analysis and lift simulation modelling using Elevate or equivalent software, supporting the development of efficient and reliable system designs.
  • Support senior engineers with complex technical problem solving while progressively taking ownership of smaller to mid-scale project deliverables.
  • Conduct site inspections, condition assessments and performance reviews of existing vertical transportation systems, contributing to asset management and modernisation studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications and design documentation while ensuring compliance with relevant Australian standards, codes and client requirements.
  • Engage with clients, architects, contractors and internal project teams, developing strong communication and coordination skills in a client-facing environment.

 

Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Engineering qualifications in electrical, mechanical, mechatronic or building services disciplines, or equivalent tertiary or technical pathways with exposure to vertical transportation projects.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams while progressively taking ownership of technical deliverables.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with growing confidence in client and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exposure to or a keen interest in lift, escalator and moving walk systems, with developing capability in design, specification, coordination and technical review.
  • Progress toward professional accreditation with Engineers Australia, including commitment to achieving Chartered status, is highly regarded.
  • Interest in vertical transportation industry groups such as LESA or CIBSE Lifts is encouraged, along with a desire to build long-term technical expertise and career progression in the field.
