Job Description

Introduction

You will undertake concept and preliminary design and prepare and implement design and construction contracts for the detailed design and construction of the civil engineering required for the new FCC Injection Complex to be constructed at the CERN Site in Prevessin, France, subject to FCC project approval. The civil engineering consists of a cut and cover reinforced concrete structure over 1km long and a series of surface buildings to house ancillary technical infrastructure

Functions

  • Working with colleagues from the accelerator and infrastructure teams, prepare conceptual and preliminary layouts and designs for the Injector complex structures.
  • Prepare technical specifications and other contract documents for the procurement of civil engineering consultancy services related to the injection complex.
  • Manage contracts to develop tender designs and specification and play a lead role in the procurement of civil engineering contractors for the construction of the complex.
  • Manage the technical aspects and participate in the commercial aspects of the contracts to deliver the complex.

Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Civil Engineering or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • Experience in the design and construction of major cut and cover structures and a technical understanding of bored tunnel design and construction.
  • Experience in managing contracts for civil engineering design and construction.
  • Have a proven record of delivering major civil engineering projects as part of a team.

Employment Conditions

Contract type: Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.

  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
  • Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
