Consultant - Metallurgy

Job Description

OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated Consultant - Metallurgy to lead and develop our dedicated processing team to identify process improvement opportunities and maximize processing plant performance. Your ability to utilize metallurgical data to optimize metallurgical support to our mine operations teams spanning Geology, Mine Planning, Engineering disciplines, will ensure your success in this challenging and rewarding senior site-based appointment. This is a great opportunity to leverage from your previous operations experience to lead daily process plant operations and create sustainable value for Oceanagold.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Ensure the execution of all plant metallurgical functions
• Deliver high-quality technical studies on process plant performance
• Meet all safety, quality, environmental, regulatory and operational standards requirements
• Develop and perform metallurgical test works programs that identify opportunities for process improvement
• Provide metallurgical data management and complete metallurgical accounting reporting
• Provide technical support and mentoring to the process operators, metallurgical technicians and to the broader processing department
• Liaise with Mining and Geology departments as required to ensure crusher feed aligns with forecast production schedules
• Leading Plant Metallurgists in the delivery of technical support
• Documenting and communicating technical improvements
• Develop systems, workflows, and models to optimize current and new metallurgical tools
• Daily technical review of process plant performance
• Design review and cost control of capital projects and operating costs 

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in metalliferous processing plants
• Minimum 3 years of experience at superintendent level together with demonstrated leadership of high-performance teams
• Advanced presentation and technical reporting skills
• Proven high-level planning and prioritization skills
• Strong analytical skills with a systematic and logic driven approach
• Strong communication and people skills
• Continuous improvement and innovation oriented
