General Summary Of Duties:

The Operations Manager is expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative, and judgment. This classification is distinguished from line management positions by the responsibility of managing all Housekeeping operations projects, leads the preventative maintenance program and is responsible for all Utility Porter equipment and the maintenance system.

Qualifications

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following).

  • Manages assigned staff, embracing company’s diversity commitment; training, coaching, performance feedback, recommending and administering discipline and area assignments.  Creates a work environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
  • Provides guidance to the Utility Porter team members.  Excels at delegating assignments and workload while maximizing performance and productivity.
  • Hold pre-shift meetings daily, keeping the team members informed of important communication, property events, direction for the day and tasks at hand to better maintain efficiency.
  • Oversee and coordinates Premier Pest sweep rooms, circle rooms, guest complaints, active rooms and drain procedures for our preventative maintenance program. 
  • Coordinates the Housekeeping portion on PM rooms project, works side by side with Facilities.  The PM project consists of proper delegation and coordination of furniture move, pull-room requirements, replacement of damaged items, reconditioning carpet, furniture fabric and any additional task at hand.
  • Works closely with the Warehouse Regional Logistics Manager to coordinate furniture requests, delivery and relocation.
  • Leads all Housekeeping projects pertaining to Banquets, Sales & Conventions requests.
  • Oversee Utility Porters by following OSHA and hotel guidelines for the safe handling of all Housekeeping chemicals and equipment. 
  • Monitors Utility Porters compliance with policies, procedures, and safety programs.
  • Oversee performance and productivity of Utility Porters assigned the following areas, Monitors the Runners performance on guest calls and Guest Room Attendant requests.  Monitors time efficiency of Shampoo Porters to better support daily operations.
  • Oversee the supply warehouse Porters, ensure Runner items are restored and available for requests in storage spaces.
  • Manages the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment. Coordinates training for all techniques and equipment being used. Maintain documentation related to equipment maintenance, inventory, etc.
  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment room, supply area, linen chute area, Runner’s lockers, all Housekeeping 
  • storage areas.
  • Adheres to the company’s philosophy; it complies with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft office, LMS, and HotSos.
  • Coordinates Brady Specialty linen arrivals and follows up on restocking in the tower.
  • Assume other duties as assigned or directed. Not limited to and including Floor Manager duties. 

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Record of successful organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in order to complete schedules forecasts, discipline, inventory, etc. and be able to communicate with other departments
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to complete budgets, forecasts, and inventories
  • Knowledge of chemicals and cleaning procedures to maintain appearance of property (i.e., brass, marble, all floor surfaces)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act independently while analyzing data and drawing conclusions from written and computer-generated materials.
  • Knowledge of Utility Porter operations, include staffing levels, service equipment and guest relations.  Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Knowledge of labor law and Culinary Contract.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to complete budgets, forecasts, and inventories.

Additional Information

Experience  Requirements

  • 5 years minimum experience in housekeeping
  • 2 years minimum management experience
