Position Summary
The Lead Structural Engineer will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and technical leadership of bulk material handling equipment, including conveyor systems, feeders, stackers, reclaimers, shiploaders, wagon loading stations, and other related machinery. The role combines advanced engineering expertise with team leadership responsibilities, ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects in terms of quality, schedule, safety, and budget.
The Lead Structural Engineer will provide technical guidance to structural engineers and designers, oversee engineering activities, establish design methodologies, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and company procedures. The position acts as the primary technical authority for structural engineering matters and serves as a key interface with project management, clients, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
GENERAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directly or indirectly contribute to tasks aimed at promoting understanding, well-being, hygiene, and safety for all members of the organization.
• Work in accordance with the Policies and Objectives of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Follow the procedures established in the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Demonstrate task compliance through the records established by the company.
• Report improvements that can be integrated into the Integrated Management System (IMS) using the company’s designated channels.
• Actively participate in the activities of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership
• Act as the technical authority for structural engineering activities within assigned projects.
• Establish design philosophies, engineering methodologies, and structural calculation criteria.
• Review and approve structural calculations, analyses, reports, drawings, and technical deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, client specifications, and company engineering procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to structural engineers, designers, and project engineers.
• Support the development of engineering best practices, design tools, standard calculations, and lessons learned databases.
• Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and engineering decision-making processes.
People & Resource Management
• Coordinate and supervise the activities of structural engineers and designers assigned to projects.
• Plan, allocate, and monitor engineering resources to ensure efficient project execution.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development of engineering personnel.
• Identify competency gaps and promote the continuous development of team members.
• Foster a collaborative, safety-oriented, and high-performance engineering culture.
Project Execution
• Perform structural calculations for bulk material handling equipment.
• Conduct dynamic analysis for the evaluation of seismic response of equipment.
• Evaluate stability of structures and entire machines against external forces.
• Evaluate compliance of structural members against relevant structural codes.
• Evaluate the resistance of welded joints against cyclic loading (fatigue analysis).
• Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) of structures and components.
• Develop studies and designs using 2D and 3D tools such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive project documentation related to the structural discipline.
• Coordinate structural engineering activities with mechanical, electrical, project management, procurement, and site teams.
• Support proposal development by providing engineering concepts, technical risk assessments, man-hour estimates, and technical clarifications.
• Monitor engineering progress, deliverable schedules, and project budgets related to the structural discipline.
• Interface with clients, consultants, vendors, and certification authorities on structural engineering matters.
• Conduct site visits, technical inspections, and fabrication audits when required.
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and field engineering activities during project execution.
Requisitos
Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Mech. Engineering
