Field Solution Consultant / Sales Engineer - North of England
Location: Manchester / Field-Based (North of England)
Requirement: Full UK Driving License & willingness to travel regularly across the region.
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋
Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Well… you might just be in the right place!
About the Role
We are seeking a commercially-minded, customer-facing Solution Consultant / Sales Engineer to influence and drive revenue growth across the North of England. In this role, you will be the ultimate technical partner to our Field Sales reps. You will use your expertise to position and demonstrate Lightspeed’s platform to a range of hospitality customers, helping our sales team get deals over the line.
This is a pre-sales commercial role, focused on winning new business and positioning value. You will use your deep understanding of the hospitality industry alongside your technical acumen to solve business hurdles for prospects and build ultimate customer confidence during the sales cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Partnership & Deal Influence: Partner closely with Account Executives to co-own the technical strategy for complex sales opportunities. Conduct high-impact, on-site discoveries and tailored product demonstrations that directly increase win rates.
Regional Field Mobility: Actively travel across the North of England and the Midlands to meet hospitality prospects on-site, operating with high autonomy in customer-facing environments.
Commercial Value Positioning: Translate complex technical features (software, hardware, APIs) into tangible business value and ROI for restaurateurs and hospitality operators.
Industry & Competitive Expertise: Maintain an acute understanding of the hospitality tech landscape. Act as a trusted advisor to prospects, helping sales teams effectively differentiate Lightspeed from regional competitors.
Technical Risk Assessment: Identify potential technical blockers or integration constraints early in the sales cycle to ensure we are setting up both the customer and our implementation teams for long-term success.
Trade Shows and Industry Events: Represent the company as the technical and product expert at major hospitality trade shows, engaging prospects and supporting the field team with live environments.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the bridge between the field and internal teams, ensuring clear documentation of customer requirements for a smooth handoff to Implementation once the deal is won.
What You Need to Bring (Requirements)
Sales & Hospitality Experience:
Commercial Sales Background: Demonstrated experience working directly within a sales process (e.g., as a Sales Engineer, Pre-Sales Consultant, or Tech-Savvy Account Executive). You understand sales methodologies and how to help move a prospect from interest to decision.
Hospitality DNA: A strong, deep understanding of the hospitality industry (restaurants, hotels, bars) and the unique operational challenges operators face. Direct experience working in hospitality, or selling technology into hospitality, is highly required.
Commercial Focus: A mindset centered on value creation, persuasion and solution-design.
Travel & Logistics:
Mobility: A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
Flexibility: Genuine willingness to travel regularly across the North of England and Midlands for on-site customer deep-dives.
Technical Competencies:
Solution Mindset: Strong aptitude for cloud-based SaaS, APIs, and integrations, with the ability to explain complex technical workflows simply to independent restaurant owners or C-level hospitality executives.
Communication Excellence: Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to command a room and collaborate seamlessly with internal sales reps.
To all recruitment agencies: Lightspeed does not accept unsolicited agency resumes. If we have not directly engaged your company in writing to supply candidates for a specific vacancy, Lightspeed will not be responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes.
