The purpose of this role is to assist in the daily running of the Housekeeping department, ensuring that all M&C procedures and targets are met.

Key responsibilities as a Public Area Attendant:

  • Clean and maintain all public areas including lobbies, corridors, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and back-of-house areas.
  • Ensure all surfaces, furniture, and fixtures are dust-free, polished, and well-presented.
  • Vacuum, mop, and sweep floors according to schedule and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrance areas and ensure they are presentable at all times.
  • Ensure public areas reflect a high level of presentation and cleanliness at all times.
  • Respond politely and professionally to guest requests or directions.
  • Report any guest concerns or issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Follow hotel health, safety, and hygiene procedures at all times.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly.
  • Report any hazards, maintenance issues, or damaged equipment immediately.
  • Replenish public area supplies such as toiletries, tissues, and sanitizing materials.
  • Assist with deep cleaning projects as scheduled.
  • Support housekeeping team with additional duties when required.
  • Report lost property according to hotel procedures.
  • Inform supervisors of any maintenance defects or cleaning challenges.

 

As a Public Area Attendant, the essential skills required:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning roles within a hotel or similar environment.
  • Understanding of cleaning standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety standards in hospitality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good time management and reliability.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
  • Positive attitude and guest-focused approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain standards during busy periods.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexible and available to work either early or late shifts, depending on operational requirements.
